Victoria's Alpine National Park opened up

The link pretty much says it all. It's always great news when a little bit of common sense shines though, and this is certainly great for Victorian hunters. :drinks:

Yeah no worries mate.

"DEER hunters will have access to an extra 90,000ha of Victoria’s Alpine National Park after one of the biggest changes to park access rules in three decades.

The changes, effective immediately, allow hunters to seek deer “about as far east in Victoria as you can go”, said Australian Deer Association spokesman Barry Howlett.

“It’s fantastic news,” he said.

“It’s what it should be, more public access to public land.”

Parks Victoria said deer hunting was now permitted in East Gippsland at areas around Suggan Buggan, Limestone Creek, Native Dog Flat, Charlie Creek, Buckwong Creek, Willis and an area east of Tubbut.

Parks spokesman Graeme Baxter said all species of deer — including Sambar, Red, Chital, Fallow, Rusa and Hog — could be hunted in the expanded section of the park.

A three to five-day aerial deer shooting trial will take place in the Alpine National Park in May, part of a wider deer control program in the Alpine National Park."

The potential income boost for Victoria will be simply huge, especially the small country towns!
All of Australian as well as overseas hunters will benefit from this decision and congratulations must go to Parks Victoria and all organisations that made this possible.

OLD BLOKE, are you close to this area and do you have any spare rooms to rent (mates rates, of course) and I'd brush up on my deer guiding skills, will be needed! Bugger, must see if I can talk the Boss into moving southwards.....

here's link with the map of the new area, just a darn pitting it stops at the NSW/Vic border.

just a afterthought - in the USA they have areas and times set aside for muzzle loaders and bow hunting only, I Wonder if this could be tried here...?? :D

I've got a birthday and wedding anniversary coming up this week but this is far more exciting!!

No mate. I'm on the wrong side of Melbourne. Minimum 2 1/2 - 3 hour drive. So strictly weekends which I don't like due to large numbers of trail bikes and traffic. I try to make one or two trips each spring, usually 3 Week days.
