Clay target shooting 'Come and Try' session

Post by Griffo1337 » 11 Jun 2021, 8:16 pm

G'day,

Looking for a club/venue/association where I can have a go at clay target shooting.
I live in Victoria, specifically the Geelong region.
I do not yet have my firearms licence, I've submitted my paperwork but still waiting on everything to come through.
Hoping to find somewhere to have a go at it so I have a reason for getting an O/U...

Any help is much appreciated!!

Mate, just ph the

Geelong gun club

https://www.claytarget.com.au/acta/vic- ... -club.html

Or
SSAA at eagle Park little river

Or

Winchelsea clay/gun club. I think they are still going. Used to be very active.

Or

Geelong rifle club.
They might point you in the right direction.

Hunt safe. A bit more bang is better.

Appreciate it mate, that's what I've been doing, I'll give the Winchelsea one a buzz.
I'm finding a few of these places don't really have anything set up for people without licences.

Huh, might be wrong, but it's my understanding you can shoot under close supervision at a club. Perhaps I'm out of date?

I reckon you're right, and I think the focus on getting newbies in is different from place to place. Both Geelong rifle club and Geelong target rifle (.22lr bench rest) have a pretty standard set up for new shooters. Done them both and were very straight forward and enjoyable.

G'day Griffo 1337,
Shooting under supervision is still legal, if you come to Eagle Park (after the 18th, it's closed until then) visit the 5 Stand people, I have met some of them and they seem like decent folk, Cheers.

Go to Eagle Park on a Saturday at their 5 stand. They provide a shotgun at n/c and supervision by a Range officer. Sin in and pay the fees at the office I think

May try this one next

But had a great session with Geelong Field and Game a couple of weeks ago, if you're looking to have a crack give them a call.
