You will be disappointed as Sydney has nothing but F-class and SSAA.
There may be a few small rimfire ranges left, hidden around the place.
I gave up on the SSAA ranges when the only decent outdoor range went bad and they made it clear that there will be no more casual shooting on the "all-purpose" pistol range due to needing more ROs.
They had push-button rimfire silhouettes but they have prob rusted up now if not used at all. Converting them to pneumatic must have been the second biggest waste of money they ever did. The first was building the huge reloading shed for a bench rest comp lol.
I did find the last friendly run SSAA .22 range in the western Sydney suburbs but it just had the range fees increased by over 300% so it may not be worth it anymore for a quick .22 target shoot on a Friday or Sunday evening.
Silverdale did let the 22 PRS shooters start shooting again, but restricted them to 50m for some strange reason.
The Sydney International Shooting Center is a great facility and a huge under-utilized electronic Olympic type .22 rifle range as well as heaps of pistol ranges for bigger cals.
A great clay shooting set-up out the back with many diff fields also.
The best outdoor bench range by far is also run by SISC but govt want it off their hands so will likely give it to SSAA to destroy.
It's a fair drive to Hilltop Southern Highlands Shooting Center and only open Friday to Sunday.
Clubs get priority but it's huge so everyone can get a bench and it's 500m with sets of steel plates out on the 500 line.
No shedding in type baffling like Silverdale, but also no muzzle break protection at all.
It was great when it was quiet but now it seems that half of the SSAA Silverdale casual shooters are there now so no more quiet days and muzzle blasters are the norm.
A new range has just opened at Colo Heights after battling the FAR for about 5 years.
It's a 300m benchrest range with full baffling and more, a frame to not let the barrel point anywhere but the targets by the looks.
Not likeing the $45 range fee but worth it if they also don't like muzzle blasting the normal shooters that don't need breaks.
Not yet been there but keen to see what it's like and how quiet it is, Sat-Sun only.
Country NSW is where the good ranges are.
This side of Mudgee is a huge facility on gov leased land with a handfull of ranges on it.
This side of Canberra is another great range 500m and SSAA but normal low range fees back when I went a few times.
I just shot the rams at 500 from the bench, easy until the wind hit on the second visit.
Hilltop is also funny as it can be dead calm until you get within 5km, then the wind hits, cold as well.
