I think the aim is shooting to be gone for the ****** area unless you want to shoot Fudd-Class.
Silverdale was great for a decade or so when they had a good manager and team.
I could shoot the rimfire silhouettes with the .22 LR and sluggy, both pole-supported and off-hand.
Could do off-hand hunting practice with the centerfires to 100m.
It all went full circle and turned to s**t well over a year ago, from memory.
Turned up for my fortnightly shoot and on a quiet day when the all-purpose range should be free.
Can I shoot offhand targets? NO
Can I shoot the rimfire Silhouettes? NO
Can I shoot from a 200 and 100yd bench, up that end away from the muzzle blasters? NO
Another bloke asked if he can shoot his sluggy from the 25yd sighting bench. NO
The unpleasant RO then lectured us, or argued with himself, causing us both to lose the half hour we hd to set up.
I never went back and Hilltop got more crowded as other shooters must have done the same.
I later hear that the RF PRS shooters can only shoot to 50m max as they got a word wrong, to do with the range licence, and who knows how long that will take to fix.
The Hilltop range would have been the go for centerfire Silhouettes if you went with the club that shot it, but the govt decided its priority was to wipe their hands of that range also, wasting the millions it cost the previous govt to build the best shooting facility that Sydney shooters would ever see. Our money wasted matters little as it was the other mob that spent it.
Mudgee had a full range for centerfire silhouette shooting, but the FAR shut that one down, to do with the range template, I assume.
They still use all the other ranges and it is a fantastic facility, like Canberra, but even better if they still had the 500m silly animal range in use.
