It depends on your expectations. It should do quite well but don't get disappointed if you get beaten by a Ruger or a Tikka. If you had the budget an Anschutz 2013 is a better choice.

What i seen a few used ones for around the 1k mark. Cz go for not much cheaper. From taking to a few people the prices of new guns have nearly doubled/tripled in 4/5 years (due to nioa and exchange rate i assume)

Go with whatever you like mate. If you buying new... if you like annie get it.

What about this rather nice 1413 from the 60s or 70s. Buy it and if you don't like it I will buy it off you :)

Nice...... i just bought a 64 mpr myself and hopefully in the next day or so get to the range with a few different projectiles to try out. And that's why i said do what you want to.... but until in get to shoot it enough i can't say if its much better or not (i paid under 1k for the bare rifle including transfer)

But what i did find was, apparently a (ill leave it unnamed) gun sales website owner thinks changing description and price of a rifle constitutes a new ad (even though i am selling the same rifle)... and wants me to pay him for a 2nd ad...... that's capitalism for you

John sorry forgot to reply Jeff, just haven't had time, the first time at range the magazine broke, but the shooting I did I wasn't happy with it, tried eley standard and cci and both were not that great... cheap ammo I figured, ppl told me they don't like cheap ammo.

Next time I had a bunch of eley stuff including match, only eley club was good (5 touching). Yesterday had geko match and fiochi 300... Both were just superb. A bit windy and I am still learning the trigger as it's very light. The fiocci I have only run 25 rounds through but all were as good as this.

In final accuracy wise, at the moment the anschutz is just a tad better than the cz452. If I had paid 3k (new price) for it...I might be a bit unhappy. But the stock is just perfect and i don't usually like traditional stocks. These are both 5 shot groups. And i am not super consistent shooter.

Gecco match $8.5 per box

Single shot though... but probably very accurate... even though it likely has lots of rounds through it

A dedicated Bench rifle which is what the OP wanted. Was probably good enough to win a National Competition when it was new. Much better than the 64 action.

If you had the coin this would fit the bill quite well I think. The Annies have gone up a heap in the last few years I have a 1750HB and while I dont compete 50yrd benchrest with it. I think it would do ok. It certainly shines out when we have 22 days at the local club.

At the end of the day you are the one that has to be happy in competitions there is always going to be another guy that has something better. In some classes there are rules to try and level the playing field equipment wise but human nature is always trying to push the limits of rules and come up with something better.

Go along and get an idea of what it is all about. There should be plenty of people that will welcome you and give advice of the best value way to get the most bang for your buck. Most people dont and end up spending a heap more doing the gradual upgrade or replacement.

You would cause a bit of a stir turning up to your local competition with that Stiller.

Jeff is a man of few words, perhaps when he said "sold" perhaps he ment he had bought the Anschutz.
