Ballistics calculator phone app recommendations

Post by huccl » 27 Feb 2014, 9:39 am

Hi guys,

After some recommendations for some ballistics calculator apps.

Have an Android Phone and iPod so for either is good.

Cheap app's are ok, free is better ;)

Thanks

I use "iStrelok" on my iPhone and "Strelok" on the Android system.
I find they are real accurate.

I have istrelok, isnipe and ballistic in my phone.

Ballistic is by far the best, with the team that puts it together very well accomplished.

I am quite suspicious of the istrelok software, constantly requiring update. Maybe there just conscientious with their testing and updating.

PS: sako also have one now but it's fairly limited in its load range

I dunno about the update thing being suspect?

Pretty sure in order for these things to be on the app stores they have to meet a whole bunch of requirements and frameworks etc. to make them safe.

In order to download a potentially dodgy one you have to disable these things and choose to allow non-verified apps or whatever they call it.

Don't think it would be anything dodgy...

On the subjects of apps, I'm just using the Lapua one. Only simply, just for drop and windage really. But easy and quick for rough adjustments for hunting or fun target shooting.

I'm using strelok also. Pretty flexible...

Only limitation on the free one is magnification is locked when showing POI on a mockup reticle.

That's only for visual representation though. The figures for drop, clicks, windage adjustment etc. are all available.

Meh, the reticle mockup thing isn't real useful anyway.

The tables on drop, clicks etc. is what you'll actually use anyway and that all works fine on free Strelok.

Hi all
This thread was discussed in Feb 14, just interested in getting up to date views on what you are using?
I'm thinking of down loading the strelok pro, but a lot can change in apps over 12 months so interested to see what you all think are the best ballistic apps now in May 16!
cheers and thanks in advance!

Only got Strelok 2 months ago so can't say old vs new but seems accurate as of then. Tried a few others with crashing problems on my Galaxy phone but Strelok has had no problems so I've stuck with it.

Applied Ballistics is probably the best, seeing as how it's developed by Brian Litz.

But they all do pretty much the same thing. I use Shooter. You should also check out JBM ballistics on your computer:
