500 Yards Wahoo

Post by Muddy1967 » 01 Mar 2014, 9:39 pm

After hitting the gong at Eagle Park when the forum meet, I am abit hooked on longer range stuff.
Here is my effort for today.
This effort is with 40gr Hornady Z-Max.
I will look at 55gr pills for better stability in the coming months.

Would I be right in saying this is after the scope swap?

Stepping up to the 55gr should definitely net you some improvement.

Take a bit of the wind drift out of it for you.

Not quite a "Quigley bucket"but 500 yards is 500 yards and good shooting by any standard!
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Thanks guys for all the great responses.
Yes Jaso I zeros the new scope out to 200y then I dialled it to 300 and smacked a 3lt milk bottle.
I will be saving all my loose change to upgrade to a 32x or a 40x scope.
I want a smaller point of aim, as they say aim small, miss small.

Good shooting...

Now take the scope off, stand up - (get off the bench) and hit the spot on that huge boulder at the 500m line.....

I can tell you I was pretty friggen happy with myself when I hit the 500m gong freehand at Eagle Park.

Not saying a little luck wasn't involved, but I can still say I hit it ;)
