Good to see a variety of people at the range

Post by scrolllock » 27 May 2014, 11:44 am

(hope this doesn't sound sexist or condescending, mean this as a serious post)

Mostly guys are into shooting obviously.

Some girls are into in seriously, but most I see are just having go for a laugh.

So I was at the local range which has a pistol section. All guys in the booth there, except for 1 woman who looked 50 or 60?

She wasn't stuffing around with her husband or anything, looked like she was kicking ass.

A few guys saw her target and skulked off without comment afterwards

Dunno if that's really worth sharing but yeah. Not the usual person I see up there. Good stuff.

Yep its great seeing women shooting too, my Wife and Oldest Daughter have their license/permits to shoot which is really nice as its fun being out hunting with your loved ones, the youngest Daughter will be applying for her permit soon too, just got to wait till the end of the year - she's already worked out the date and day that this can happen! keen as mustard that one!

Lady Noisy has just had her first experience at competition at Seymour Black Powder Club shooting with her Winchester model 1892 lever in 32-20. She looked over at me while loading and said "This is sooo much fun!" :-P

Lady Noisy is already drooling over the used guns sites looking for her first big bore single shot and she's liking the look of Springfield trapdoors and Remington rolling blocks in 45-70.

Trying to hold her back and get her going with big bore toys with a .45 or .50 front stuffer because they can down loaded much more easily and then work up to full power loads before stepping into larger BP cartridge rifles......plus I'm scarred of her out shooting me :-/

I can count the amount if times I see other woman at the range regularly on 1 hand. I go every week at a minimum. I'd love to see more so I don't feel like an oddity.

I've copped a bit from men who don't come regularly or hardly ever and they ask me if I'm just there for the day with my husband having a go. s**ts me...especially when my husband isn't even there! Lol. Gets even funnier when I'm using my .357M.

LOL. Exactly!

Must say it was fun on the weekend when I went the gun shop to have a look see at a few 9mm. Got chatting about Desert Eagles (I hadn't seen one in the flesh before) with the guy and he brought one out for me to have a play. I think every single bloke in the shop made his way over to have a look at this "woman" with this big old gun!

Nothing better than watching my mrs shoot better that half the guys in the firing line. In fact at the Easter meet up shoot in Mudgee she beat everyone but hilux, I even ditched my gun to shoot hers and she still beat me :(

I once remember a lady who joined a pistol club and tried a Ruger GP100 with .357 magnum with factory loads.

She ordered one after 3 cylinders were shot (when you didn't have to wait an eternity to shoot handguns) and shot better than most other guys.

The first time my partner and I went hunting she got a fox at 300m freehand with her .243.

I got nothing...

Man level = downgraded.
