Splash of the bullet would have burst the balloon. Besides that I'd be impressed just to hit the plate at that distance. And it's Jerry Miculek, he doesn't have to pretend he can shoot, he's one of the best shots in the world

Good novelty value for sure. I missed the hold over, it was either 7 or 8 yards or 70 to 80 yards . Still rather impressive

Definitely makes for interesting shooting, even if just for a gag.

I probably couldn't hit the plate with my rifle at that distance so I'm impressed

Yep, your'e meant to be impressed. I don't give a *hit who he is supposed to be, it's a made up video. Projectile splatter regardless, someone else would have fired the "fatal shot". There is no contunity of video between the shot & the so called hit, there are breaks in the footage when looking at the target.

With the barrel angle when shot taken, the ammo specified by the 'so called' shooter - won't make 1000y, be closer to 500y/m when it hits ground. Recoil = mostly nothing, a 147gn pill shaped like a brick - to actually make it to 1000y should kick a bit.

I've tried 300m & you aim at the sky. Barrel length only gives a longer sight radius & being a revolver, got the cylinder gap losses.
To even make it look anything like real, he should have been pointing the muzzle/barrel up at least 15 - 25 deg, just to make anywhere near the distance.

I do not beleive it.

Browning did a 9mm somewhere about WW1 & WW2 with a 200m ladder sight, the pistols are now collectors items & you still (with full power loads) cannot reilably hit a 1 x 1m backer at 200m. When the ladder is at the 200m mark the barrel is at 14 deg from the horizontal.

I'd wondered about that. Didn't seem to be compensating for a lot of drop there.

I do agree with you on the seeming lack of hold for such a long distance but I just can't accept it as a fake. This guy is genuinely an amazing shot and doing something like this as a fake would end his career not to mention cause sales of his revolver (that he is clearly plugging) to plummet. Plus everything I've ever seen of him in shoots/ interviews faking this is totally against his character

Your right there baldrick everything he does I'd genuine and this would be a real kick in the guts to him and his character if it turns out he faked it, he's built his reputation on being a great shooter and a nice bloke , be a real shame if he sold himself out over this.

I think its a fake. I just did the calcs on the hornady balistic calculator . Assuming 1000fpt and 147 gr projectile with 100 yrd zero it requires a 75 yard hold over . He says that. But it looks like bugger all hold over. And off hand too!
