Storing rifles at the range?

Post by Gregg » 10 Jul 2013, 2:58 pm

I'm new to all this so forgive me if this is a stupid question :D

Can I store my rifle at a range I'm a member off instead of at home? Would be good for me if I could store it somewhere other than home.

Anyone know if shooting ranges usually offer this?

Some do, some don't. You'll need to ask your local ranges.

From memory it's anywhere from $10 - $25 per month per firearm.

Out of curiosity, why not store it at home?

You could try your local stores too.

I know my local few will store your firearms for $20-$30 a month. Not sure if this is really meant for long term storage like if your going away etc. or whether they're happy for you to be taking them in/out a couple of times a month...

Time for you to call around and find out...

Overheard some old guy at my local store who had lost his license for 5 years and needed was wanting the store to mind all his guns for the 5 years. Dunno how many guns he has, but they said it was going to be $40,000 to keep them until he got his license back

Damn good reason not to lose your license if you have 20 or so guns

Feel sorry for the guy though

Thanks all.

I know I can store at home, it's just a matter of nowhere ideal for a safe and keeping the family happy too.

If I can't find a range to store at I'll have to find some hidden corner of the house for the gun safe. Out of sight, out of mind of the wife (hopefully)

You need a man cave to hide all your toys in from the family ;)

In the end I managed to broker a deal with the missus for exactly that :D

Guns are locked up at home where they won't arouse the kids curiosity now, and the wife got the spare room for her projects as trade off

I got the garage. Booyah.

Better to be in the garage as you can crack on with the powder tools without people inside getting the s**ts
