Ok, so I do flinch

Post by south » 08 Sep 2014, 4:03 pm

I've been working on not blinking when firing but though I was doing pretty good on not physically pulling back on the rifle when shooting.

I followed your guys advice on working on it by having a friend feed live or dummy rounds without telling me which was which so he could watch my reaction when "firing" when it was a dummy.

Sure enough... Physical flinch as well.

Oh well. No more lying to myself

Now I can start working on the problem. Good advice guys. Thanks.

Some people do listen to what really old blokes say, it comes with many years of experience.

Practise with a calibre that is very mild until you get over the problem. Then, don't go crazy with a high recoiling calibre.

Some people thought I was crazy putting a Muzzle Brake on a .223R & .204Ruger, they just don't think enough, for a very good reason.....called high accuracy with no flinch.

I've used the slow motion camera only iphone to see if I flinch as you see every bit of movement

Good idea with the slow-mo cam.

Might have to give that a try and fine tune my technique a bit.
