Right knee or left knee down for kneeling shooting position

Post by RealNick » 07 Oct 2014, 10:27 am

This might sound weird but I can't work out which knee to put down for kneeling shots.

I shoot right handed so right knee down is "normal".

After a bit it doesn't feel right so I switch and it feels more comfortable for a bit then I end up switching back and going around and around.

Which knee to you put down for kneeling shots? (and say if you're a leftie or a righty)

Right handed right knee down, sit on your right foot, left elbow on left knee.

Works for me, very stable

That.

Plus when hunting I had a kneepad on the right knee to stop me corking my knee when I unwittingly drop it onto some rocks.

I had to do a practice to remember which way as well.

Right hand and knee both, same as others.

If you're anything like me it's the old knees that are the problem either way, not the stance.

I'll give some padding a go in case that's the problem.
