Struth, you'r taxing the old gray matter now.
3 rounds rapid - you popped up fired 3 rounds rapid at a target(s) that was usually obvious, exposed and close, ducked down and the bloke a couple up from you did the same etc. Accuracy counted.
3 rounds burst - with a 303 Bren gun from the prone position, don't stand in the doorway out to 600 yds. With the M60, 7.62 I could put 2 rounds into the base of a empty beer can with the 3rd at top at 12 O'clock at around 30 yds.. These are different weapons, different roles with regard to accuracy.
Hay Chronos - Rapid fire was employed when the targets were usually close and exposed and in numbers. Suppressing fire or covering fire was used usually against targets to keep them pinned down, moving and returning fire. The direction was usually pretty precise, might have friendlies moving in on the flanks etc.
