Remington 5R for bench/varmint rifle.

Hi guys,

Looking for some feedback on the Remington 5R in .308

Would be using it for a bench rifle for 300-500m range shooting.

.308 win is obviously overkill for varmints but I'd be using the same rifle for this anyway instead of my sporter.

Opinions?

A mate of mine has been working up loads for his new 5R and is currently shooting 168gr hollow points with his for 4" groups at 500m.

A colleague of mine has one with a Nikon Monarch on top...

I think he's shooting 155gr Berger VLD's in his load if I remember correctly.

Getting a bit over 2" group at 300m from memory, and still working on loads.

Just a great rifle. Have a Swaro BT on top of mine. Not very much (dangerous or delicious) is safe at 500m

Sounds like a winner then.

Thanks for the positive feedback all.
