600m .204 shoot

Post by NukeBOMB88 » 10 Mar 2015, 8:29 pm

Had some fun today with the .204 shooting a shield that I made years ago for a school project and this was the result.
Hit the target four out of four at roughly 600m ( about 4 paddocks away and the paddocks are roughly 150metres) in 5-10km wind . Didn't do too bad if I may say so myself :D :D

Sorry I forgot to say that it was just with Hornady Superperformance Varmint 40grn V-Max , pretty damn accurate for a factory load I'd say! :D

Good stuff mate, a little more elevation and no wind and you'd be nailing bunnies no worries. Would be good to see how it would shoot without the wind cause you're pretty well dialled in there with what looks like a <1 MOA group.

I'd say it'd shoot pretty well without the wind because I was actually compensating for the wind by about 12 inches

if thats a 600m group... then you've done well, at about 0.8MoA, jump onto gogle earth and try to measure the true distance....

But you can say those mosquito bite barely broke the surface... :sarcasm:

Better than I've have guessed for for a .204 to be honest.

The extra velocity is really driving it well

Don't have a range finder but I drove the farm bike down the track that runs parallel with where I was shooting and the speedo on the bike got it at about 590m

Yeah it's the best cal I have ever shot, and I'd say it's done it's job because when I got it I was getting 3-5 foxes every time I went spotlighting and now there is almost none left, I have only seen one fox in the last 2 months of spotlighting on this farm. :D :D
