Watch this and check out the guy at about 25 seconds.

Luckiest guy ever, imaging turning around and seeing the other guy coming. Talk about s**ting yourself!

I saw that last week. Scary stuff.

This should be compulsory viewing for everyone, and maybe once a year, especially for RO's because I am sure nobody thinks the RO intended on being that careless.

Lucky not to have been directly behind a target!

Watched that at smoko what a bunch of cowboys! What I don't understand is the guy behind the target not dropping to the ground as soon as he heard gunshots.

If I found myself down range while someone was shooting on it I don't think crouching behind a target would be my first choice of hiding place like that guy. Also I'd be screaming ceasefire not quietly waiting for the guy to finish his run

Noise cancelling muffs, active ranges either side….he may not have realised that he was in a live range. I doubt it was a case of cowboys. But someone screwed up pretty big.

I bet none of them will ever do it again.

Doesn't look like it.

He seems oblivious until the guy is only a few metres away.

Gotta pin that one on an RO I think.

Probably yelled out to see if all clear, no response, start shooting.

How smart a practice is that though for somewhere where all are wearing ear muffs though....

Agreed,

I think in a range setup like that the only way is for the RO to walk to the front and sweep it back clear. My $0.22 inc GST worth. But I am not an RO in IPSC so it is not a qualified opinion. Be wary of opinions…especially mine ;)

in the comments YT, the guy IN the range was deaf, or serious hearing problem and was unaware it was hot, he was patching out targets

At least that explains why he was down there. Still a big stuff up from the RO

Yep.

That's what the ROs are there for, to stop people making mistakes.

That looked like a pretty compact course and the screens had little in the way of see through ability. Would not have helped.

Not trying to gang up on the RO here but I don't think there can be any excuses for that.

Imagine if he'd been shot, how do you reckon it would have gone down if the ROs explanation was "the screen was in the way".

Obviously didn't look, probably got complacent because nothing goes wrong 99.9999999% of the time.

He should have gone around and looked. If he couldn't see what was on the other side how did he know it was clear?

Just fortunate for all the guy was standing in the right spot to not get hit.
