Speaking of sticks. I made a set of long shooting sticks for standing shots a couple of weeks ago. Result 10 shots from my brno 22rf for 8 rabbits, happy with that. :)
Should have made a set 30 yr ago.

Shot a 52 & a 51.1 @ 500yd. Was well on target for a 53 or 55.1 on the second string but the wind, mid range, swung in the opposite direction with out my noticing and threw my last two shots left and into the 4; tried to correct for the last shot but not enough. Oh well, that's the nature of wind reading for beginners!

Helped put a lot of new shooters through their Firearms Safety Course, it was good to see a lot of kids keen to give shooting a go as a sport and surprisingly a lot of women which can only be a good thing for the future of our sport/hobby/pastime

Confined to quarters with various maladies and whiled away the hours looking at scopes for the 464. Don't like scopes in general anymore but the Weaver 1-3X 20 looks interesting for pig shooting.

No good in the evening mate. I got one. You can buy it if you want. U need a 30 mm objective minimum. All mine are 40mm objective.

I tried using my target rifle with a batch of handloads over the weekend. My shooting progress went from "I can't hit the side of a barn door" to right in the middle ring (V-bull) using those apertures, so after getting some help with them and adjusting for the pretty hefty windage and just edging the elevation up and down, by my 20th shot I was hitting V-bulls.

Now I've been zeroed in, I'm scouting around for a new sling.

Thanks Traynor, it's a lot harder than using a scope, that's for sure.

2nd Sunday of the month, it's 3 range 3 position for .22 Military Training rifles and 310 Cadets. First comp with the No8 having only tested ammo for groups not accuracy resulted in fair groups but all low, using RWS Subsonic. Highland Target grouped well so might try them and see if the faster velocity will pull the groups up, otherwise I will have to change the front blade. Cadet was OK, but again all a bit low. (310 Cadet is great fun though!) Pulled the Hi-Power out for the pistol shoot, first outing in a couple of years whilst I tried to post a half decent score with the Beretta 92FS, fair result but again a bit low, same with the Trooper MkV. Has there been a sudden increase in bloody gravity that I've missed? Oh well, Bendigo next week to try classic 303 T/R, see if I don't put them all high! Cheers.

Had a play with my .58 front stuffer today The load is 60 gns 3F black and 580 gn Minie ball lubed with 50/50 bee'swax and bacon lard. Still getting used the non adjustable military sights. The very course rear sight is best compared to a railway cutting and the front sight is like a train parked in the cutting. Target sights they aint and a ten inch spread at 80 yards was the best I could manage today - maybe not looking into the afternoon sun might help. Still a hundred tons of fun to shoot though! :-)

Don't forget, you can have a shooting lens behind your peep to focus the foresight and an Eagle Eye in front of the foresight to focus the target.

G'day Noisydad,
I've usually had better results with 2F in the 58 at all weights of projie. and loads around 55-65g to reduce skirt deformation. I have shot Lyman #57730, 570g Minie with 120g 2F in a Hawken with good results to 150yds. On the side, understand you shoot with Seymour? I have some of Podgies stuff I want to return, when is your next meet? Cheers.

SBPC shoots on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Our 1st long arms play date for the year is 14th March. We dont shoot over the hot months because of the fire risk and the oldies dont like coming out in the heat.

Shot a 57 and a 54 (last shot was wonky into the 4 ring) yesterday at 300yd. Just couldn't find the X, though. Pretty bloody pleased with that anyway; still, i wish i could do it at 500 & 600yds.... one day i might get there

After fiddling around with the scope mounts on the .223, don't know why I did but I thought something wasn't right  , sighted it back in and all is good, got a bit of practice with one of my air rifles in readiness for the state titles in a couple of weeks then proceeded to embarrass a few people with the .25cal air rifle at 100yds

I packed the .22 and the shotgun (instead of the .243) and headed out into 6000 acres of rabbit hunting bliss with a mate ... bugger me, I've never seen so many foxes !!
They all sat out at about 200 yards in the moonlight just looking at me... almost as if they knew I was unprepared.

I'LL BE BACK and next time I'm heading out for foxes

I spent this weekend making a dent in the pile of empty brass and now it's a couple thousand cases smaller. Still got 1500 empty cases needing to be loaded but they are waiting on a set of carbide dies which have been on backorder since before Christmas. Will hit the range tomorrow night, I got me a new Marlin 44Mag lever action finally and will get it sighted in ready for pig shooting in a few weeks :)

This morning I adjusted the trigger on the 22lr target rifle. Last week it discharged 3 times out of a hundred shots when closing the bolt (all down range into the berm). All seemed good

Loaded up, drive 1/2 hour to Ripley South SSAA range. As I stopped the wagon I noticed I couldn't feel my wallett in my back pocket. Checked other pockets, console etc. No wallet, money or licences. 1/2 hour home again. Wallett on the shelf.

No shooting this weekend.
