Spotlighting foxes friday night. Did some bunny shooting saturday and whistled in a bonus fox. Today detailed a new batch of handloads for the 204 out to 250 meters and tested a new load for the 222. rest of the evening cleaning rifles. It was a good weekend.

Spent Saturday afternoon at St Mary's emptying the rounds I had loaded the previous weekend. Actually managed to get a 1/2" 5 shot group on the .308 using a EoTech sight with 3x magnifier. Heading north Friday week to chase pigs so 1 moa is plenty good enough for the grunters :)

A few more around the place would be nice, it's a long drive to Little River for a lot of us.

My Dillon 223 carbide dies turned up Monday so this weekend was spent lubing and running 1500 cases through it. They were then wet tumbled in stainless pins and put through the dryer. Time permitting through the week I'll get onto actually loading them but that will probably have to wait till the week after this. Saturday was prep and clean 200 Cheytac cases ready for loading, all tumbled, dried and annealed on the Vertex so they look all pretty now. Cleaned up another 50 416 Barrett cases along with a pile of 300 Wby Mag though all I actually got round to reloading was the 300 Wby Mag as it's going pig shooting with me this coming weekend up north :) With the wife and boy out all weekend and in 2 full days I knocked over a pile of brass though I'm thinking it's a magic pile cause it never seems to shrink.

Carbine Trophy, 10 rounds in 2 lots of 5, standing unsupported at 100m, 60 seconds. Used my "new" 1888 Commission Carbine and repro clips. The clips hung up and wouldn't allow the riser to lift cartridges properly so I had to fiddle around a bit. Lots of cursing. Cap and ball revolver after that, posted best score in 12 months so came home happy in the end. Hope next week to have a Ruger 77 MkII VT in 243 to play with, so look forward to that.

Was out at ripley too on Saturday. Had my new Sako 375 H&H out. Will be taking it back today though. It's got a few splits in the wood I'm not too happy about. Missed them when I gave it a once over in the shop,

I'll get in early for this coming weekend, butt crack of dawn this Friday I'm heading north pig shooting with my Queensland acquaintance and his son. The acquaintance's dad and brother are taking a break from bending bananas to join us. I'm a bit nervous having 4 armed Queenslanders with me being the only New South Welshman, the first Banjo or toothless grin I see I'm outta there :) Visions of "Deliverance" flashing before my eyes as I type....

Did more fine tuning of my 1863 Remington .58 muzzle loader. I've resized my .580 Grn bullets up from .575 to .580 and it's made a difference as the bore is .582.
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

Spent a solid 3 days up bush just north of Tamworth out on 4000 acres of prime pig territory. I managed to ghost a few foxes, some bunnies and a mass of giant bunnies, the other 3 in the group also took foxes, bunnies and a few pigs. Hunted morning, late afternoon then spotlighted after dark mainly chasing pigs but despite seeing some big buggers the ones taken were quite small. I was very surprised by the number of foxes we saw, at least 25 over the 3 nights and the ones we shot looked to be well fed and very healthy. Had a great time and when I recover some energy I'll start planning the next trip to the same property. I even snagged an invite from my mates dad to go pig shooting up Queensland out near Mackey which should be fun.

Half way mark, go to arms fair, pay for US M1917, then buy Wild Tiger 303 and Imperial German IS M/71 bayonet. Find one piece scope mount for Omark. Tomorrow, range.

Starting to develop a 7.62x54R round for plinking. Since I don't really like shooting corrosive ammo, pulled bunch of bullets from my 7.62x54R surplus stash for use in new rounds - about 100 all up, 150gr pills (just under, been weighing them). Once I get the round developed, planning to pull a lot more from lose rounds I have. Of course keeping a few packets in original condition! And spam can is a nice to have too.

Loaded some 223rem. Shot them at 200 and 300 yard to confirm our course of fire for an ANZAC Day shoot. Had a long chat with the club Capt about going forward with extending club activities beyond TR & F-class.

I don't do anything related to shooting. Because my work is to give people firearms safety training and I get exhausted pulling the trigger for 6 days. On Sundays, I prefer spending time with my family, watching movies, eating wafers and having any soft-drink.

Took my snider and 375 H&h out to Ripley range Sunday morning. For some reason my magnetospeed Chrony doesn't like the Hornady DGX projectiles as I couldn't get a reading to work up my loads. Worked fine on the federal factory stuff just not my loads.

Vic CSD State Rifle Titles, post-47 sniper-pitiful, std military 3p-below average, tactical rifle-best not mentioned, 500m std military rifle-avg, Martini Cadet-forgot to bring ammo, 22 Trainer-avg. Shot over 3 days, drank some very good wine, had a lot of laughs, great to camp in the countryside again. Always next year. Cheers
