When your boss buys a new plasma cutter for the workshop at work, I ask you, what's a bloke to do?

Whats a bloke to do..... a likely story says boss...
You need a set of scaled IHMSA targets, so you can make proper use of the equipment, let me know if you needs..

As far as your set up goes, the only suggestion, apart from inviting yours truly over for a plink, would be to move the supports to the side of the target so a centre shot doesnt end the fun...

The holes in the buffalo were from my .30-06. The gongs are only mild steel so round ball just splatters although Lady Noisy's Pedersoli Tryon .45 with a faster twist of 1:48 can use the much heavier 240 gn "Maxi balls" in front 70-80 gns of powder and they'll leave a good dent in 10 mm plate. That load goes off with a VERY satisfactory thump!

I like you mounts.

I can see them lasting longer than a normal frame which goes in 1 stray shot.

Showing my ignorance on the subject here re: the cutting tools...

As an example, I know the popular STS targets use 'bisalloy 500' steel for their targets to prevent the holes.

Can you cut that kind of steel with standard plasma cutter for a more durable targets? Or a commercial level tools required for the harder stuff?

Yes a plasma torch will cut pretty much any steel alloy. I've cut all sorts of lumps off front end loader buckets and and done 25mm mild steel with a torch rated at 20 mm. It didn't like it and had to go really slow but got the job done.
