How does a rifle maintenance box hold up as a rest?

Post by sooey » 27 Oct 2013, 1:39 am

I'm looking at something like the Spika field box as a cleaning station for my rifles.

Crappy picture, but this is the one-

Or something similar. Doesn't have to be Spika specifically. Anyway...

Does anyone have something similar that they use as a shooting rest for the range? How does it hold up?

I'm shooting a .270 and 200 win mag, and wondering if the rear support tower is likely to stap off due to recoil. Dunno how well these things are built...

Opinions?

There are ones which double as shooting benches.

I can't remember the brand but there is a red and grey one. Looks a long more solid for recoil than the Spika.
