Hi lads

I know im a tad late to this thread but only picked up my Mossberg 802 plinkster back in January. Shot this grouping at 100m on a rather windy day.
The rifle is zeroed to 50m and i was using CCI Standard ammo.

Not half bad for a windy 100 and cheap ammo.

Not going to tell the coppers, just saying maaaybe it isn't wise to show you've been using one. Because as dumb as the laws can be, suppressors can't even be used by anybody. Sucks I know.

Nice groupings though.

"Heckler303" .. I'll pull you up again... main point is I don't understand your post...??? Your comment makes no sence at all.

Why do you comment on something you have no experience with...a Suppressor... !!! I do, I have owned them many years ago. Like Semi Auto Rifles then converted to full Auto...by Police Officers.....!!!!

Many years ago and all I thought was you "silly young kids"....Young Police..

The most dealiest firearm is that one that is in control of someone that know's how to use it....at any distance.

You are long gone if someone is shooting you before you hear the shot.

Back on topic.

Decent rimfire groups at 50m should be

"One Hole" .. anything less than that then you need to do alot of work with Ammo Selection and/or you choice of firearm.

Agree totally, most ridiculous thing they ever did was to ban them, a VERY useful tool when shooting small game.

G'Day Fella's,

A month or two back, I purchased a 2nd hand CZ 453 in .17 HMR (in VGC).
As is normal with me, the first thing I did was to pull the barreled action out of the stock, and see how all the hidden bits it work, etc!
Well luckily, there were no surprises (eg; Rust, indications that a Butcher had been there before me, etc), so I immediately adjusted the both the single set trigger and the standard trigger, to nice but safe let offs.

I then had a look at how the bedding works on this rifle.
After I thought i new how this worked, I then set about pillar and epoxy bedding this rifle.
After an initial range shoot with OK results, I took it home and changed one aspect of the bedding.
A couple of weeks later, I headed to the range for another shot, here are the results....... 3 x 5 shot groups, at 50 meters.

Awesome shooting with the Savage, looking at getting one of the mkii versions for my first rifle (probably towards the budget end unfortunately). Is 6x scope sufficient for 50m? Do you compete in any comps?

No mate never competed in comps ever (couldn't think of anything more boring and mundane to be honest) I just test a few diff ammo brands when I buy a new rifle to see what it likes then I buy up. The little 6x Tasco seems more than good enough for what I use it for (Bunny busting and ringing gongs when I want to have a bit more of a challenge at 200m+

I bought both Savages 2nd hand and both were used for target shooting from what the previous owners said, not sure what scope combos they had (A couple of those groups were from them and I've shot a few groups with it when I first got it and so did the daughters and they all managed very good groups with them too so they can shoot ok.

We only really use them to roll a few bunnies with or a few gongs and the occasional bunny head on a stick for practice out to say 80-100m.

Interesting result on Sunday. at a training day. We were encouraged to try different finger positions on our triggers. Using front rest and butt in the shoulder. Reading from left to right the results speak for themselves.

G'Day Fella's,

Last weekend, I finally had a chance to try some of the new CCI A17 ammo out of the same CZ 453 .17 HMR.
Here is the only 5 shot group, I shot with this ammo (at 50 Meters)!
