Loosing the battle

Post by anthillinside » 14 Nov 2015, 8:16 pm

Winchelsea Gun Club left homeless and penniless after losing VCAT bid.

They had to leave because of fears about shooting within the city limits, but now rural property owners near their proposed locations are complaining shooting would upset livestock.
:allegedly:
So they had better stop using bird scareers to protect their feed crops.

Illinformd people making bad decisions.

A farmer near me let's me hunt on his land. When he gets new cattle in, he prefers me to keep a little distance to make sure they don't get upset with the noise. I find that they don't care, though. In fact, they come over to look and see what,s going on, and will quite often walk up to me while I'm sighting in or just practicing

I know.
I've also seen it often enough,
I't's sort of astounding that "game" disapears at the slightest noise but sheep and cattle generally don't even look up
That was sort of my point , ill informed people making decisions, and we lose out and the "lie" becomes accepted as truth.

Cattle don't care about gun shots, I've shot around em many many times and they don't even flinch, same with the cattle on the range up at near Caboolture, they used to come down for a look

The roos and other wildlife are the same, once they get used to the sound it doesn't faze them at all.

Its the potential psychological harm it might do to the livestock, ruin then forever i tell you.....

But seriously, they dont even need to mention their disluke of guns, just invoke the environment... noise lead.... i cant beleive the part about the lead getting into the waterway!!! So they agree to use steel shot - but the lamb cant tell the difference OMFG are these lunatic at the top of the lunatic pile or what...... they just want the gunses goned..

Id like to know what happened to the previous site, was it council the drove them off "due the lead levels"??? Well, that one works everytime... it got rid of one of if not thw only inner suburban ranges at Hawthorn VIC.... couldnt spend a few dollars for the shooting club... but millions to footy and tennis clubs every year... wouldnt want to encourage one of the safest internation level recreation and sports . Maybe the day will come when shooting will replace Aussie rules at the olympics and comm games...then we might have a chance.

Its all bs. That club was there back in the 70s. No one complained back then. Geelong council tossed the Geelong clay club out of their site beside the geelong gardens a few years ago. I think that club had been there about 100 years. Councils are full of wankers and idiots in my view. The Geelong council is one of the worst.

Only problem is the current Golden Planes council is a bit "on the nose"
I don't think he current lot will be suportive, but I think they are in for a trouncing next council elections.

Same in many regional areas. Our rates cover.... council road maintenance and they keep that to a minimum; in fact, our access road is better before they "fix it" once a year; it's always a lumpy mess once they're done.

Our own onsite power supply, our own onsite water supply, take our own rubbish to the tip (bargain tipping rates, though).

Anyway... off topic.

Maybe we need a deer program like dog breeding.

Start a line that's calm an confident and doesn't leg it at the snap of a twig.

Release them into the wild to breed and it's happy days from then on out
