Places to shoot .50 cal in Australia?

Post by riggee » 01 Nov 2013, 12:20 pm

Hey everyone,

I know .50 calibre is on the 'no-no' list as a general rule, and that only a few dedicated shooters have gone through the pain of actually getting one.

Is there somewhere you can go to shoot one though just as a visitor?

I remember when I was a kid there were shooting ranges you could go to and pay a handful of $$$ for some targets and a 22.

Doesn't seem to be anywhere that does this any more though? Not around me anyway.

Anyone know if there is somewhere you can go and shoot a .50 cal on someone else's range?

It is more exciting just standing to one side when it goes off than being behind..........................

There was a bloke at the Little River shooting range which is my local a while ago with a .50 cal and accompanying muzzle brake.

The range has a tin roof the whole length along....

KABOOOOOOOM!!!

Huge echo and dust and s**t flying off everything

Never heard of anywhere doing a pay-per-shoot type deal.

Make friends with someone at the range with one and give them a few $ for some ammo?

I have never ceased to be amazed by how much noise a handgun makes, be it a .22 or a cannon such as yours.

Yup, getting that muzzle just a foot further away with a rifle makes a world of difference.
What is this "too many rifles" you speak of?
