Oooh we can do that...i watched two guys trying to dial in a red dot scope... The first kept sayinf there are two dots, the 2nd guy says dial in the one in the middle... Not joking 50 rounds later hey are still struggling.

The 2nd guy says i dont get it, i have mounted and dialled in a hundred of these things...

I walk past after listening to them bitch and moan and say to the first guy, you have the red dot on back to front...... The know it all just says noooo its not, what do u think i amcan idiot... At which point one of the ROs walk past and says hey you have the red dot on backwards...

I laugh and go back to my bench..

Orrr the old guy who didnt want to adjust his scope using the turrets as they were on the marker zero....... So he was loosening the basesnd adjusting like that....

Weird s**t at the range....
Had 2 guys shooting rim fire a few weeks back that left when I started shooting the 460XVR. They complained to the R.O about the noise on the way out, I think he's still laughing at them.

Earlier in the year I was shooting the .375 Cheytac in a bay next to a few middle eastern types. They'd take one shot, bring the target back and crap on about how Sik the shot was and what an awesome shooter they were. I got sick of this after a while so the next time they had the target at the bench I squeezed off a shot, the muzzle blast shredded their target.

Similar situation as above, target comes back and they started patting each other on the back about how awesome they were shooting "it was a 5" 3 shot group @ 50m". I pulled mine back and they made some smart arse remark about how I only hit it once....they shut up real quick when I showed them the 5 rings of the clover.

Guy rocks up one night with a brand new Barrett M98B, Nightforce NXS 8-32x56 and some cheap ass rings. Proceeds to put shot after shot down range and couldn't hit s**t for love nor money. After 20 rounds or so he flags down the RO to ask for help, Took the RO a few seconds to find a heap of nasty gouge marks on the tube due to the rings being incapable of handling the recoil.

lol

I shouldn't laugh

I upset someone yesterday who was sighting in his small centerfire for his daughter who was standing behind watching. I shot a few rounds through the .44mag lever gun just to check the sights at 50m then took out the .338WM and shot a few quick doubles to make sur ei could get it back on target reasonable and that i was happy with the bolt cycle. poor bloke looked like he had been standing on the deck of a battleship when it fired.

"what's that? It's bloody loud"

just a win mag mate, I'm done now, you'll be right"

kinda glad I didn't take the .416 ruger to run the same tests hahaha

If you don’t mind a question from a non-member, I was hoping to get some info on Single Action shooting at SMPC.
Bear was good enough to let me know that Blacktown Pistol club shoots Western Action. The SMPC website mentions Single Action. St Marys is closer for me, but not sure how Western Action would work indoors.

Just wondering if any one shoots Western Action at SMPC. Do they shoot pistol, lever and shotguns?
Thanks

sakoBC, there's a SASA match on Wed 21/9 @ 7pm. Match rules state that you need 2 x single action pistols, Lever Action rifle & a double Barrel shotgun. Might be worth checking it out, let me know if you're heading out there as I'll try and join you. That said, I've heard that the Blacktown club has a very popular SASA group which a mate of mine shoots in and he's loving it.

Heading out tonight to test some 9mm before doing a bulk batch of >5000 rounds. Loaded TopScore 122Gr LRN BB on 3.3gr of AP50 for general range play and competition. I'll feed it through the Glock, Beretta and Walther so hopefully 1 or more perform well. I've got the next 3 nights and all day Saturday to load around 20kg of brass. I'm giving serious thought to a Dillon 1050 along with the gear to automate it...

I've got a pair of XL650's but the 1050 is easier to automate....I usually have a helper for the bigger runs but he's away with his family and won't be back for another 4 weeks. Neither the wife or boy are licensed so I won't let them touch anything....Range time :) Catchya later

Home again, Pistols cleaned and back in the safe.

Load was 3.3gr of AP50 pushing a 122gr TopScore LRN BB projectile. 10 Shots from each at 10 then 25m, shot standing but leaning against the wall on the right which was a big mistake. Had a casing hit the wall, bounce and go down the back of my shirt....ouch :( Pictures show the results better then I can explain but I like this load, on the warm side but not what I'd consider hot and performed better then my AP70 load. Next few nights will be spent on the press till I either run out of brass or projectiles, 5000 projectiles & 20kg of brass...any guesses as to which runs out first?

The Q5 is fitted with a Leupold Delta Point Pro while the others are open sights which with my eyes are essentially a blur so I'm not overly disappointed with the results from those 2. I have an appointment with a specialist Optometrist in a couple weeks to have a set of custom glasses made specifically for pistol shooting with open sights. I'll be slaying those Rams, Pigs, Turkeys and Chickens in rimfire silhouette like a man possessed :)

So i finally got to the range yesterday after a couple of crap weeks including finding out that my team is all redundant at work.

I had worked up 50 rounds of different loads and sent them down range...

115gr FMJ projectile (hornady)
Bullseye Power
CCI primers

Being conservative with the first lot my groups were like this.. (first 9mm i ever loaded.)
first.JPG
first.JPG (100.78 KiB) Viewed 7856 times

Not so great at 20 Metres. Lots of WTF,. Shot the whole 10 rounds and couldnt hit anything... So clearly either i did something wrong OR it was just to soft for the pill..

Not having much confidence in the whole batch i continued on.

2nd batch had a bit more powder by 0.2gr and the results are below
second.JPG
second.JPG (95.33 KiB) Viewed 7856 times

So better at 20 metres. The one outside the black was me... i yanked the trigger like knickers at my year 12 formal......

finally my last batch...
4.2gr of bullesye

third.JPG
third.JPG (84.83 KiB) Viewed 7856 times

Again at 20 metres.. So i think i have my FMJ load. Now i just need some lead RN and i will be set

That third load looks a winner :)
Generally I use a pistol rest when testing loads so I rule myself out for inaccurate shots. Nothing worse then a great group off the rest but then can't hit s**t freehand cause it's me that sucks, not the pistol or ammo

Spent a few hours out the range tonight getting my 460xvr zero'd after replacing the mount I broke before putting 200+ rounds through the little Beretta 87 22 pistol. New glasses due on Friday so on the 5/10 I'll be smashing those little steel chickens no worries. Sighted in the New Sako 85 with just 10 shots as well, gotta love Sako rifles.

Picked up my new shooting glasses this afternoon, Bolle safety glasses frame with prescription lenses. Cost $303 (Ironic number), got $120 back from the health fund so only $183 out of pocket :) Those chickens are toast next week :)

Gamerancher, the gsg1911 or the sig 1911 is not convertible. You can use a of spares, like hammer, triggers etc but not change calibre.

It's your birthday so you should be able to do what you want but if you can't make it, that leaves more piggies, goats, rams and pesky chickens for me :)

I'm go to ask the RO if I can trace the targets so I can print up some paper versions for practice.

Wylie already replied to this but I'm not sure.... What's the exact model of your Sig? I'll see what I can find out about the lower cause if the same as other 1911 lowers then I don't see a problem with fitting a CF upper.

If you can get to St Mary's we can always try your upper on my lower to very fit and function before swapping. Just need to verify the 22 lower is the same as a centre fire version and capable of handling the extra recoil.

Did the coaching session last night, there was two groups of 4 with instructor for each group.

Helped me with gripping the 1911, where to place my non gripping thumb and trigger control especially at 25 metres which is where My groups are a lnot tight..

Ended up shooting about 100 rounds and I have to say it helped a lot
