Tungkillo, SA

Post by Barnard » 20 Feb 2017, 6:06 pm

Hi all,
just thought i'd share about ssaa's new range being developed at Tungkillo (Adelaide hills region).
It's a new club, with several new ranges being built and has the following planned;
a 100m rimfire range,
a 600m centrefire range,
a 1600m centrefire range,
pistol ranges,
shotgun/clay target ranges.

In short, the club is planning on being able to host almost any firearm events there, in the near future.

The club is having a "Rimfire practice/general plinking/target shooting" day this Sunday 26th Feb, for SSAA members.
So if you're a SSAA member and want to come out to check it out, let me know, or check out the facebook page.

I'm also on the committee there so if you have any questions feel free to ask.

That's good news, always great to hear about new facilities coming online. Probably the only question I have is what are the caliber limits? I believe the S.A government frowns upon the larger calibers such as .416 Barrett and 50BMG, not sure how they feel about 338Lap or 375 Cheytac. I'd seriously consider a trip over to compete out to 1600m if the bigger guns were allowed.

Regards
Brett

Great news Barnard.
I live just next to Tungkillo, hopefully the range will be a great success.

Good question Brett. :thumbsup:
.338 lap is definitely too much gun for South Australians, something about flimsy arms and little shoulders :unknown:

Hopefully Tungkillo range is planning to step up to the plate and get approval for some big boys toys ... that would be something.

I'll stop dreaming now :lol:

Brett,
yes the range is to be certified for up to and including .49 cal
in other words, anything other than the .50 cal

On_one_wheel,
it's this sunday from 10am till 3pm if you're interested.

Great to see this get off the ground. Please keep us updated so we do not have to use Facebook to keep up with what is happening. Cheers

I'd love to have a look but unfortunately I'll be working.

Up to .49 ... dose that mean that as a club member you could own a .338lap ?

Sunday will include a bit of a practice run at a rimfire version of 'PRS' (precision rifle series), with both paper targets @ 50m, and several small steel gongs from 50m, 100m, 150m, and 200m plus another gong out @ 300m.
shooting positions will vary from ;
prone, sitting, standing, obstacles, barricades etc,
this will be a bit of fun practice, and not really a comp, so it's just to see is people like it.
i'll see if the flier will upload.

tube feed is fine.
we just wan't people to come out with their rimfires and see the range and its future plans, meet like minded folk, share a laugh, and have a shot.

probably the only criteria that is in place is that shooters are SSAA members,....for insurance coverage.
