Caldwell Rock Jr. shooting rest, shoulda' bought it ages ago

Post by batter » 20 Dec 2013, 11:22 am

Hi fellas,

New forum member here and my first post.

Sharing a bit of an experience with a shooting rest to help the other nubs like myself if I can :D

I've been uming and ahing over an adjustable front shooting rest like the Caldwell Rock series for about a year now. I thought for a bit of elevation adjustment... I wasn't keen on spending up to a few hundred bucks and have just been shooting with a bipod and rear bag instead.

Finally thought bugger it, and picked up a Rock Junior rest yesterday, and I'm loving the thing.

Haven't taken it to the range yet, but from just doing some dry firing practice at home being able to adjust the front height so I don't have to lift/drop the back as much, it's clear that I'm a lot stabler. Plus maneuvering the front of the rifle is 10x easier than bipod feet.

For the sake of $100, I should have bought it aaages ago.

Hope this helps somebody :)

For a hundred bucks they're not bad.

Not sure why anyone would be "The Rock" as it's $120 more or something and just has adjustable sides to squeeze the bag :?

I am keen on the Rock BR though for the windage adjustment. $300, hmmm.

$200 for that last adjustment is a bit of a downer :|

To each his own.

The Rock looks like an excellent rest to me, and $300 isn't the end of the world.

Spending $1,200 though...
