Old recall on Howa rifles

I've been doing some research on possibly buying a new Howa. Going through articles and whatever I found an old one from 2002/2003 where Howa issued a recall on their model 1500, 1550 and 1700LS series rifles.

Recalls aren't unheard of so fair enough.

Bit that got me thinking was that the recoil was in 2003, and it was for rifles make between 1970 and 1993 though... 30 years later.

That must have been 10s of thousands of rifles? Hundreds even if they had to do the lot.

You wouldn't be keen to find out you've been shooting a rifle for 30 years which needed a safety recall...

Anyone had one?

I don't know the specific incident, but presumably it was a very minor fault and precautionary recall.

FYI it wasn't all rifles between that period that were recalled.

It was only a particular serial range.

Still a few affected I'm sure, but not the numbers you're estimating there.
