I have two Lithgow No1Mk3's and a Longbranch No4Mk1, but I have no interest in the No5 Rifle. I'm not that big a fan of the Lee Enfields at all actually :-)

They are a great design, and feed beautifully, they just do nothing for me to make them as enjoyable to shoot as other milsurps.

As a nominee for the Order of the No5, I must say how much I enjoyed watching that Martini Mk IV smoking it up! Cheers.

My two major criticisms of the No5 are the recoil and short sight radius. But it makes up for it in the weight department - you can hold it offhand for ages without getting shaky arms. A great offhand rifle, and a solid sitting rifle.
At what point does lack of maintenance become patina?

Own both, my No5 was brand new un-issued, looked like it made yesterday. Paid top dollar for it back in the day.
Martini Henry is the complete opposite, its bounced around Australia for the past 140 years, been well used and shot more kangaroos than I could fathom. Has a good chamber, bore is alright and its minute of man when shot freehand which is all you could ask.

Martini is the far more enjoyable rifle the shoot, its loud and hits hard.
.468 480gr bullet behind 85gr of FF

No5 is a good rifle to shoot, I find the recoil to be pretty light and the sights are fantastic for what they are.
Never noticed any sort of wandering zero issues either, hasnt changed even when I've had it bloody hot.

Right now in the USA we have Mk5s on the market due to the Ethiopian horde of surplus that has been imported. A bunch of Mk4s and Mk3s came in as well.

Always wanted to do the Martini Henry thing but haven't gotten around to it yet.

There are a lot of fake mock up mk5’s in the US market too.
Pretty sure McCollum in an earlier video goes into great detail as how to discern authentics.
