Kimber rifle parts in Australia

Post by Rathie » 15 Oct 2026, 9:49 am

Morning all,

Kimber USA is not being forthcoming in helping on parts for an ‘older’ 84L Hunter in 280ai that I’ve just purchased.

Would like to get 1 or 2 spare removal box mags.

Done the track I may replace the stock (with the built in plaster trigger guard) and replace with an HS precision (or similar) and include a metal triggger guard / floor plate or blind mag assembly.

Does anyone have a lead on where i can get box mags or the other parts?

NIOA are no longer the importer for Kimber- and Kimber is not being helpfull in providing guidance. Cheers, Rathie

I don't have one, but what a fine mountain rifle they are, and .280 AI would make a fine bigger-deer hunter and an all-rounder for any game we can hunt.

You will find some followers of Kimbers around the forums for sure.
A bloke showed me his, and wanted to sell it, I should have bought that fine handling rifle.
He said they were actually quite cheap, back when they were first selling them here.

Thanks Fester,

Bigger deer is exactly why I bought her.

I’ll be reloading from the start (factory ammo is hellish $’s)

She will work fine as is - but damn handy to have a spare mag!

Kimber has always been a disappointment considering the owner and company were originally from South Australia. Jack Warne, the original owner was always hard to deal with, tough to do warranty claims with and spare parts were non existent and if you could get them, ridiculously expensive. Warne departed from Kimber a few years back and started Warne mounts, rails etc. Kimber never changed though, always kept well clear as the new ownership had the same process of seemingly ignoring the country where it all started.

I failed to add that Kimber went into liquidation quite a few years back. Early Kimber models probably will not have spare parts of any sort as everything was sold off. Newer models under current US ownership may still be an issue as Nioa dumped Kimber a fair while back. No idea who or if in fact there is an importer. This is also going to happen with older Remington stuff as their plant and warehouse lots went under the hammer as well. David Kiff of PTG bought most of it so it could be a while before it shows up.
There was one importer/dealer in FNQ that brought in lots of odd stuff over the years, Kimber included, from all sorts of US supply chains. Unfortunately Sam is in hospital and not expected to be around much longer and I did hear that his stock is being bought by a hobby gunsmith. Anyone's guess where that will end up.
