Buying a rifle that's "never" been used?

Just wondering what everyone's take is on this stuff is when looking at second hand rifles.

Used guns always seems loaded with rifles which are claimed to have had only 10 or 50 or some tiny amount of rounds put through them.

Can't say I'm not a bit suspicious...

There are plenty of collectors out there. I'v got a mate with 2 rifles that he has only put 5 through.

There would be a few dodgy ones, but there are legit reasons.

People take it up for a while an it's not their thing.

Switch from hunting with a sporter to bench with a heavy weight... Things like that.

I bought a Winchester 'Cowboy Commemorative' 30/30 Model 94, from a mate who hadn't shot it much, and he had never loaded it via the magazine, no scratches on the loading gate. looked new.

Really upset him when I told him I'd got the first pig with it.

Very common for most.
Most of my rifles get a good run, but I've got 1 or 2 that I haven't even put a pack of ammo through. Just sighted in and left it in the safe. Then after a while I think....You know. I don't need that. And sell it...

Unless you have a bore cam, and know what you're doing, you'd never really know.

That's the way. Get your eyes on it first before committing IMO.

Yup. I've bought second hand no problem, but first hand inspection is a must for me.
