Winchester XPR (xprience)

Looks like Winchester are doing a budget offering alone the lines of the Ruger American and it's ilk.

Anyone know any info beyond the marketing spiel on the website?

The grand kids are reaching junior license time, over the next few years they'll all have them and they'll be needing some tools.

My Winchester 70's have always done right but it'll need to be budget options for the kids.

Thoughts?

Winchester Wildcat.....22 b/a repeater, finish is good, shoot like stink,,,,, come with a couple of spare mags when they ( little people) are ready.....I think from memory they are made by a Russian company called Baikal...have several friends that have them and they swear by them.....price is right to.....have used them at the range on informal 50 br...and they are really great value for money, and accurate.

Other than that 9422's, or model 69's,,,and your paying collector dollar for them...

In saying that.but.... Ruger American do a very accurate .223 rem........have seen them in action, a bit plastic'y but hay they shoot well....... and real value for money. Weaver bases, adjustable trigger, and very very low maintenance....blued synthetic....but I believe a stainless is just around the corner for Aus.....

I knew of the Ruger American, that's the most glowing review I'd read so far though.

Not worried about blued or stainless. Either is good.

One to revisit maybe.

Last I saw online they weren't coming to the US until Jan 2015 so who knows how long until they get here.

I hadn't seen that, but it's not really an issue.

We're a few months away before the first is ready anyway.

Its early days but the thing I like about this XPR is its got a conventional trigger rather than the type seen on the RAR or the Savage rifles, with the lever in the middle of the blade.

Can't take to those things and they feel flimsy to me. The XPR looks to have the same trigger as the M70.

Dare say there will be a review on some of the US web sites soon. They're not a bad looking rifle for a cheap gun I think.

Have all adopted the, as painful as it may be to the Remchester crew...... the Savage barrel nut system

Its got a button rifled barrel, plus compared to hammer forged on others... I wonder what the price is, could be a winner if the price is right...

looks like a lot nicer rifle than the plastikkas,but time will tell. Knowing Winchester we wont see them here until 2020 sometime at the earliest.
