My Sauer 223 is an absolute gem. Shoots really tight groups. It only gets used for hunting - but it gets used a lot. It’s great to have the confidence in the rifle to head shoot out to 200m. I’ve put about 3500 rounds through it in 2 years.

Yes very happy with mine. The long throw lever on the 3 position safety very easy to use in the dark . Very easy to know or feel where it is. The three position safety on the howas are about as awful as you can get

I've been walking around every friday nite over summer and have zero issues with with the Howa 3 position safety, what exactly is it you don't like ??

I own st least 3 howas. They are priced very good prob best value for money. Accurate and strong . I just don’t like the safety in comparison to the sauer. The safety is tiny. I can’t see at a quick glance where it is. The three positions are very close to each other. It’s too tiny to grip and move easy from one spot to another. Some may see this as an advantage because it is less likely to. Get bumped into another location

I am old school. I was taught 60 years ago. Ignore the safety. Bolt up. Bolt down. Back in the days when the safety didn’t lock the firing pin. The only drawback I have with the Sauer is no after market trigger. I prefer a feather touch. The Sauer is adjusted down to max and let’s go at 1.9lb. That would suit most shooters. I would fit a two stage if one was available.

Pete I’m also a feather touch fan. I was not happy with the trigger on my 270 because it did not adjust down low enough for me. So I ordered another sauer trigger and it was the same. So then I had to pull it apart and have a go myself. But then it was too light and likely to go with a bump or when closing the bolt and I knew it was way too dangerous and I dare not go bush like that so I pulled it apart and had another go. This time I got it perfect snd it’s safe. I can’t remember what I did. Maybe I stretched or softened the spring. Css as t remember.. but it’s very nice to have it just the way u want it

I was trying to get a 243 or 6.5 cm but no stock ... I did see a 308 and they feel nicer than any tikka to hold and operate
