Yeah, I get bored between hunts. Plus I hate looking after the outside of the barrel and action, and layer of killrust and then a few coats has resulted in a toy that requires minimal maintenance.
It will change pattern again soon.

Those stocks from Boyds are just Laminate with a black coating on them.

Is it possible to get the Boyd's stock without the black paint? I would like that stock but in the forest laminate.
Does anyone sell it in oz? Do I need a permit to get a stock in from the US?

I'm pretty happy with my TOZ 78-16. Bit more expensive than the Savage ($695 from RPG firearms), but it comes with 2x10 shot and 2x5 shot mags, has a nice 2 stage trigger that is adjustable with an included thumbscrew. Heavy barrel seems to shoot pretty well - better than me anyway.

Stores sell them, but they're $300 that I've see here instead of $99 imported (plus shipping).

I don't know about permit, it's not very clear in the document from customs...

Importing accessories
To import firearm accessories into Australia, importers must first obtain written permission from the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department. Firearm accessories, whether or not complete, damaged, temporarily or permanently inoperable or unfinished, include:
• a silencer designed or intended for use with a firearm
• a device designed to modify a firearm so as to give it a rapid fire capability
• a device capable of converting a firearm to fire in a fully automatic condition
• a folding, detachable, telescopic or collapsible stock.

No mention of a fixed stock there, but it in an 'accessory'. I know some guys have imported them without permit and got them fine, and others have imported them without and had them seized by customs. :|

Probably best to get anyway, as there is no cost.

I've put down the deposit for one of these and it should be due in 3 weeks or so.

Just some questions:

Do you think with the rail you could use low rings and have no worries with the bigger bolt handle hitting?

And to keep weight down and because I like the look use a scope with no front bell. Does anyone user a set up like that?

And what brand of paint did you use? I've bought some krylon spray paint in khaki (more of a desert tan) just want a heads up if anyone has used it and it's no good.

Hey,

I got the Savage MK2 FVSR as my first .22 abut 6 months ago. It is an awesome .22 to use. Mate had a CZ and kept asking to use mine when we went out as it's just easier to carry and use.

I got extra 10rnd mags to go with it and a Muzzle brake for it from USA. mainly cause I didn't like the cap on the end.

It is very accurate with all types of ammo for it. Same loudness as a CZ .22. Bolt is smooth and very short. Factory stock isn't too bad. Picatinny rail on the top is handy.

All in all a nice .22 for someone's first one.

Mainly for looks as I didn't like the end cap on the FVSR .22 or an exposed thread.

Just curious, can you even notice a decrease in recoil on a .22 with a break? Seems like they'd be barely enough gas to feed the brake.

A little, but only noticed it when resting on a bi pod and the .22 doesn't move when fired.

Take the brake off and it jumps a little bit. Not enough to really notice when holding it.

I got rid go the rail and run a 3-9x40 with weaver style bases as close to the barrel as possible and have no problem with the bolt handle,

Got bored again,
Cleaned everything down, put a layer or rust kill over action and barrel, then a layer of matte coyote colour.
Ended up using camo tape on everything else. Still shoots amazing well. Love the FV-SR!
Rifle loves RWS ammunition.

I think I will do it in a multicam pattern next...

Savage FV-SR with 40gr RWS power hollow points does the job again!
Olight torch is superb for its price. If it was any stronger the ferals would burst into flames. May try different colour lenses, what is the best? Red or green?

I have both red and green lens. Red cuts down effective range by half and green down to about 2/3 but the green is noticed by the animals more readily than the red. Olight M3X.

As does mine - CCI subsonic (1050 fps) shoot very accurately and the RWS supersonic also shoot very accurately.
I bought a 500x box of supersonic federals being a tight arse on the day I last bought .22 ammo, shouldn't have as it doesn't hold groups as well as the RWS. Shame its quite a bit more expensive.

got my second hand FV-SR today, tried some 10 shot group at 50m, most of them like this, quite weird, until back to home find out why  all 4 screws were loose, so the pic rail was loose...
