Hey Gang :-)
I'm trying to work out what these would be likely to sell for if I ever found one in Australia, anybody got any idea of value?
I have two of them coming but I'm not planning on selling either of them.
Just trying to get some idea of their value. I haven't been able to find any that have been sold anywhere.

Really freakin’ rare in their original caliber as I’m sure your aware BR. Not sure on value , but I wouldn’t sell for less than $1000 if it’s original barrel and caliber. They are supposed to be a super accurate round like the Swede 6.5. I occasionally look at America’s gun sale sites, and am amazed at what they pay for stuff, even old Krico 22’s. we’re actually lucky in Australia as we don’t seem to have as higher prices on a lot of stuff due to a weaker collector market

Yes, I know how rare they are :-)
I have two M1904/39's which is why I really want a 6.5x58mm version, I'm thinking it'll be a wonderful shooter.
Plus it gives me the top five milsurp 6.5's - the Arisaka 6.5x50mm, the Carcano 6.5x52mm, the Steyr 6.5x54R, the Swede 6.5x55mm and finally the Portuguese 6.5x58mm :-)

A collector in South Africa found them for me and inspected them. He says both are very good examples indeed.
Could take a few months by the time I finally have them in hand.

G'day bladeracer,
I paid $400 for mine in 2010 and thought I had a bargain, would happily have gone double that at the time. You forgot the later version of the Dutch & Romanian 6.5x53R, the Greek 6.5x54 Mannlicher, the greatest 6.5 of them all, used to take every type of game on earth including hundreds of elephant. So a Greek M1903 Mannlicher-Schoenauer service rifle with the rotary magazine needs to go on your list also! Cheers.

PS: We won't harass you with the Daudeteau yet, but if you want 6.5's then one has to come home sooner or later!

I'm expecting these will have cost me around $1100 to perhaps as much as $1500 each.

I guess I should've said the top five for me :-)
It would be very nice to gather the rest of the 6.5's though.
Until I can cast the chamber of the Steyr I can't actually confirm its chambering, it's come from a collector that never shot any of his rifles.

I did put together a list of the military 6.5mm cartridges some time ago that I can't find now.
If somebody has done similar and wants to post it here, it'll give me something to aim for :-)

And just got a message that the export permits have finally cleared!
Three months to the day.
Should have postage and export cost by Monday so I can pay that, then just a matter of waiting on the shipping.
Getting excited :-)

It is indeed :-)
I've been seriously looking for one since about March, but I know people often have to wait years to find something they want.

But it's saving me money, I've been unwilling to grab more rifles while I'm waiting on these two :-)
Once I have them in hand I can go hunting an M94 Swedish Carbine (if anybody knows of one that might be available).

Got the shipping quote from South Africa just now for my two rifles - A$748.
Plus the export fee which I think is R2500 or A$240.
Hopefully I can get this paid today or tomorrow and have them on a plane!

My rifles from South Africa are arriving on Sunday, after 132 days!

The shipping agent has been painful to communicate with but seems capable enough. I got a phone call on Monday from Qantas telling me they're coming. I got an email from the shipping agent today telling me he's sent them :-)

The B709 was sent to my dealer as he has to collect them when they arrive in the country, before they can be transferred to me. When he suddenly decided to shut down his shop I got it off him just to ensure it didn't get lost, so I need to now deliver it back to him for collection...but, I noticed a typo when I checked it on Monday.

They've put them as 6.5x55mm instead of 6.5x58mm - I'm guessing they just choose from a drop-down list that has never heard of 6.5x58mm.
I don't want to pay my dealer for a five-hour journey only to be told "Computer says no!", so I rang to see if it was a problem.
All I wanted was to talk to the people at Border Force that we'll be talking to when we pick them up so they can tell me if it's a problem that I need to sort out now, or if they'll just correct it at the time - not possible!

So I got onto Firearms, they pulled up my application and the B709, saw the typo, and declared it was not good.
I emailed them scans of both and asked them to correct the typo and send out a new B709...and that I'm hoping to pick the rifles up on Sunday...pretty please.
My dealer has not yet received it so I rang again. It's been posted today so we should have it Monday :-(
So it'll now be 134 days until I have them, but I'm still smiling :-)

Plus, I was about to place an order yesterday for 200 pieces of .30-06 brass for forming brass, at a buck a piece, when I found a Christmas special - 500 pieces for $200! It's Winchester, which I hate, but I get 300 pieces for "free" so I should be able to salvage enough, and it'll be a different head stamp from my .30-06 brass :-)

Over the moon mate, they're beautiful :-)
I need to make brass out of .30-06 for the tightest of the pair so it fits both.

With the Rosedale fire just 25km away, and growing (now 21 vehicles attending!) I doubt I'll get any shooting in today.
It was 10,123ha. with 13 vehicles attending when I went into town, now it's 10,267ha.

Mate hope that fire is under control shortly so no one loses anything firstly, and secondly so you can get out and have a shot with your latest purchase.
Sounds like you have a little work to do with the brass anyhow.
