Hogue stocks

Post by headspace » 13 Jan 2014, 9:25 pm

I have a couple of Howa rifles on order, just waiting for the paperwork to clear. One is a 308 sporter with a 22" fluted barrel, the other is a 223 heavy barrel. Both have Hogue overmoulded stocks fitted and I'm curious about the performance I should expect out of these stocks. My thinking is to play with them both for while and see how they go then if really needed, look around for a replacement. I'm not concerned about appearance as much as practical performance. Any thoughts are welcome.

I've had no trouble with mine ,I've got a Boyds Thumbhole for it as well but I changed back to the rubber one because I didn't really like the thumbhole that
much . They flex a bit in the fore end but I don't think it 's a problem unless your really muscling it around

My .223 howa came with a Hogue rubber stock and it worked fine so I got one for my Rem 700 .308. They handle all sorts of 'abuse' when hunting. Soaks up the recoil from the .308 too. Happy with Hogue!

I've had the Hogue Rubber stock as well, no complaints.

Not exactly a work of art, but tough and does the job.

Thanks blokes, I see a few people rubbishing Hogue but I know they make a lot of rifle and pistol stocks so I figure they'd have to get it right. I love a nice wood grain as much as anyone but not at any price. The McMillan prices are scary.
The Hogue stocks feel good when you throw the rifle up to your shoulder, and that is half the battle for me.

No matter how good something is there is always someone rubbishing it.

A Hogue the most incredible, amazing stock ever? No.

But there solid, and a decent buy for the price.
