Good on ya Duncan 61 how did it go mate shootin straight
Holy mate where did you get all that grass from the ground up here is like that at your feet a blade here and a blade there and dry
nice looking country there
How do you like the 7 ? I know the more I use mine the more I like it and I tend to carry it more than the 22-250 now
I shot a 308 the other day it had a pistol grip stock and boy it just slipped into my arms like it was made for me
I wouldn't mind putting one on mine but the local gun shop said it's hard to get after market stocks for sako roughtech range
All these years I have thought the pistol grip stocks were just for show but now I have used one I have changed my opinion
pays always to have an open mind
Can't remember the brand but it looks something like a accuracy international stock it was alloy in most parts
but very comfortable for me

Your rifle doesn't look half bad either nice piece mate
cheers

The 168gn Matchkings cloverleaf at 200 metres with 64gn of 2213sc pushing them at 2800fps.I still have factory 175 Remington Corelokt that make a 20mm hole in mild steel.I shot a 100gn Gameking then a Corelokt then a target round and the target round had a lot more recoil. No wonder I stopped doing F class.I intended to park 300plus from the right hand side boundary and try to get a rabbit at plus 300 but it is still wet in the ditches and I would of left monster tracks in the grass

Geez mate I can't match that shooting my clover leaf is 100m but mind you i'm getting better the more I use it and test more powder and
projectiles
I couldn't get 175gr to stabilise with the 1-9.5 twist
I'm running Hornady 154gr sp and norma oryx 156gr both with 69gr 2217 for .4---- .6 which is miles good enough for me for what I do
But that doesn't stop me from trying for better
When I was using vld 168gr I was cloverleafing real tight groups same with 162gr eld-m but they were pencil holing and not stopping the animal so I changed to a tougher bullet and haven't lost an animal all bang fall down jobies
Mate you said earlier this year when I first got my 7 that the 7 rem mag was a good caliber and I agree with that also now
it fits my needs perfectly
I see myself if and when I shoot the 22-250 out I may not rebarrel it and just use the 7mm mag i'll cross that bridge when I come to it
Cheers

I learned the hard way that target bullets don't work when I used them in my.222 and head shot roos and heard the thud as they hit but sometimes the roo would get up and hop out of sight.they were 52gn Matchkings now I use 50gn PSP and have never had one get away

Yeah i'm hearing you Duncan I learnt the same way years ago with the 22-250 lost a few dogs so went to Hornady vmax 55gr flat base that's all I've used ever since
can't recall loosing a dog since with them, I only run 31.6gr benchmark 2 its the minimum load by adi book deadly accurate
But like I said i'm just picking up the 7mag but I learn quick hopefully
If I fail with the 7 i'll return to the old full wood 303 ( I jest mate)

I assume you mean just the projectile.I was looking at trying 130gn matching to lower the recoil for target shooting but would love to try extra low drag bullets and less powder.I still have some 2213sc left.I will PM my address

Well Duncan61 you got my trigger finger itchy after showing us you shooting your 7mm mag the other day
So I to went out today and stepped the 7mm out which I had been going to do for months
I had already confirmed out to 400yds so today I went to 545yds the longest place I could find quickly
The gong was my 7'' biss plate and what a surprise the load I have worked up was
any way a couple of pic's 2 shots 40mm apart @ 545yds i'm beside myself

Don't tell anybody Stix but I think it was a fluke ;) :) :D
Nah mate yeah I've been going to step it out for awhile but was too busy doing other things but duncan61 looked like he
was having too much fun with his 7mm so I decided to finish what I had started and in the next few days i'll do 600-700-800yds i'll go until I find my limit
I suppose
I've never shot real long distance before 500yds would have been a fairly long shot before but now i'm quiet comfortable shooting 545yds
and looking forward to going further in the days to come
The real surprise was the grouping of the load I had decided on at the 545yds
