Seriously guys, what's wrong with you any gun is better than having nothing. And if you only have a 243, just means you are saving up to get a 223 and manbun. I will have them all..... then kill lots of paper with it and some DIY reactive targets.

It's not going to shoot like a 204, the 223 can be very accurate but it doesn't have much horsepower. A Remington is also not built to the high standards that the Finns build into their rifles. I will be interested to hear what you think of it compared to your Tikka.

Doesn’t have much horsepower?
OR an alternate view is that it doesn’t waste any horsepower...efficiency = common sense.

Cough cough...did someone say 06 power waster?

If you think that a 223 doesn't waste any horsepower then check out the 22 Hornet.

There is no denying that the 204 Ruger can really haul the mail. After shooting it the old 223 is going to feel a bit puny.

Sorry Tassie, not trying to be argumentative.

I have a 204 and a 223, when I go out after rabbits and foxes, the 223 never gets a look in and I go with the 204 every time. Even thinking of rebarreling the 223 to 20 Practical. 20s are cool, fast and hard hitting for varmints. Try one you might like it.

No, no, no...
I feel like I should put a sarcasm tag on 99% of my posts - but also feel like Fark it. Lol. 223 better than anything else? 243 ? 30789.8367.68
If your pulling triggers, being safe and having fun - I could care less what size is being summoned from Mordor lol I’m probably one of the least serious peeps on here.

That being said...I think youse are all wrong to a degree and the secretly named - .116 air rifle fired from the mag feed CO2 canister with some injected diesleling booster afterburner, on threaded stay in tube with optic fibre lining is just something that can’t be un experienced - it’s like watching the “force itself” unload in a single micro second.
The Rifle production itself is heavily controlled and attempting to procure one will result with a knock on the door by men in matching suits.....- only experienced shooters over 6 3 plus need apply due to weight and recoil.
I think they are on the cusp of being banned due to their self sighting ability (without scope) - making hunting and target shooting unfair for all involved. I for one will be Very Sad to see the JForce rifle disappear...

Oh, I'm so under educated :D 223 looks an awesome caliber. I liked the info on the 6mmBR, but not much around in that caliber - ammo or rifles.

I have .22LR,Hornet .222, 2x.243 and 7mm Rem Mag I can only use one at a time its about potential targets..223 will kill pigs but .243 will do it better I have shot .22/250 and there is no noticable recoil in .224 chamberings but a 100gn in .243 has a boot and puts in a lot more grunt

my 2 cents... a .223 and .243 will cover virtually everything in Aus with the exception of camels, buffalo etc.
If you already hunt those you will know what to carry.

I'll stick with the hunting theme you started with, and agree you have all your target species well covered by what you have, but PIGS! mate, trotters! I should see a short, fast, 44Mag/45LC/454Cas or 460 S&W lever for the lignum. Then the Buffalo rifle you so richly deserve, 458 Lott, 375 H&H, 585 Nyati etc, go on, Xmas is nearly here, treat yourself, Cheers.
