That muzzle-brake definitely seems to be doing the job.

Bugger all recoil (for what I'd expect) looking at you go back when you fired it.

You would need to check if legal in W.A but certainly in NSW they are legal and available over the counter at a few shops. I have a pair of 50's, a M99 Barrett in .416 (There's a thread on here about it), a .375 Cheytac and a pair of 338 Lap Magnums. My choice for 1500m would be either the 375 or 416 but expect to pay big $ for these and no change from $10k. If you're serious I'd weigh up the costs of an off the shelf package against getting something custom built. Another wise investment would be to undertake some training such as offered by https://www.precisionshooting.com.au/shop/long-range/

The .416 does round like a winner.

The use of a lighter, narrower bullet results in a significantly higher muzzle velocity and superior ballistic performance to the .50 BMG, and the .416 Barrett is claimed to retain more energy than the .50 BMG at distances over 1,000 yards. Barrett claims that this cartridge is capable of propelling a 398 gr solid brass boattail spitzer bullet out of the 32-inch (810 mm) barrel of a Model 99 single-shot rifle at 960 m/s (3150 ft/s), giving it a ballistic coefficient of .720, and keeping the projectile supersonic out to 1,737 metres (1,900 yards).

Still supersonic at 1,700m. Not bad :)
