Traditional single shot rifles

Post by garben54 » 25 Jul 2013, 3:40 pm

Most of my rifles rim fire and centre fire are single shots I have a particular passion for those developed in the 19th century, Martini Henry's and Enfields, Remington Rolling Blocks ,Stevens and most of all Sharps.

All of them designed for big capacity cartridges and Black powder. Everyone of these centre fire rifles are capable of accuracy with Iron sights at distances considered extreme by shooters of modern calibres with telescopic sights.

Love the idea of them... Not sure how much I love the idea of ramming the powder down the barrel with a rod while my hands on the top of it though, hehe.

I can't say I'm an expert in black powder rifles by any means, but that thought had crossed my mind.

Not as much of a concern as you might think though I guess, as there are plenty of people doing it without incident.
