Greener GP in 40-82

Post by andym79 » 03 Mar 2019, 8:04 pm

Hi guys, I am looking to have a Greener GP shotgun barreled in 40-82, and loading it with BP, or smokeless softly, but am unsure if its will make the turn, has anyone do this on a GP action or with a cartridge of the same length e.e. 50-90?

If not how about on a large frame Henry Martini, if it works on that it will on a GP.

I had a falling block Greener shotgun and I am sure the rifle was in 450/577 boxer

This came up in a discussion here: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthr ... at-Caliber

See posts #18, #19 and #25. According to #25 the 40-82 won't make it but a 40-65 will. It wasn't clear to me exactly what action was being discussed.

I believe the GP was chambered in 12G 2 3/4" (70mm) so in theory anything with an COL of 2.75" should fit!

It may also be worthwhile asking the question on the Martini-Henry forum here: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/britishmilitariaforums/

I'll be interested to see what comes back from the other forums too.
