Henry single shot

Anyone know anything about Henry’s single shot centrefire range? Can’t find much out about them on the Australian sites. Did they make it onto the shelves here?

So apparently they aren’t imported to Australia. Might have to check out the CVA Bergara scout in 308 instead. Stainless and synthetic are durable, but the Henry is a lot nicer on the eye. But if the Bergara shoots and handles ok then I might go for it.

i had a s/s CVA scout in 45-70 mate. well made , good trigger and quite accurate . the recoil pad they come with absorbed the recoil from the 45-70 really well . for the money i think their great. and they break down like a shotgun for compact storage . hope this helps

Bigrich,
I’ve read a few good things about them, take down feature would be handy at times too. Ruger #1 is far too expensive for what I’m after, although it is nice, dont know what other options are out there. Did you get rid of your 45-70?

yeh, i let it go mick. for what my needs and uses are, it was a fad and a toy i guess . if i lived further north where the pigs are bigger, it woulda got more use . i sorta thought i would like more than a single shot for that type of hunting as well. my main "do all" rifle is a very accurate 6.5x55 , that can do everything around where i hunt and live . the cost of reloads for 45-70 influenced me as well . they use a lot of powder :D . i'm thinking about a 44 mag lever as a compromise . mind you, there is a 444 marlin for sale online ;) but as single shots go, i would definately recommend the CVA , outstanding value for the money . even though the guy that owns my local gun shop has a lot of 45-70 and 44 cal marlins. he's kept my CVA and shoots it often

I bought a H&R Handi-rifle in Hornet but they chamber in .223 .243 30/30 308 45/70 and a few others I am pretty sure I paid about $385 new so they are probably still less than $500

With the Ruger #1 being the most beautiful mass produced rifle, something you can keep for life. would you consider a second hand example? What budget do you have to spend? I have bought examples in excellent condition for less than $1,500.

I don’t think they were still making the H and R Handi rifles?? Are they??

I would like to get out of it for under $1k if possible. I’ve priced new Bergara B13’s and they’re $100 or so under that. I’d like a nice timber and blued rifle and would pay more for something like that, but at the end of the day, aesthetics aside, the Bergara would probably still do the same job.

I would save a little more and get a Ruger, you will not regret it.

Are they still badged as H&R here in Australia? I can find their international website, but can’t find much out about them here. I’m in Victoria if anyone knows of a dealer around here who sells them??

So I ended up finding a Henry single shot in 243 this week. OSA had only one in stock from a cancelled order so I snapped it up. Hopefully get it later next week.
