Thinking of buying a LA102 in .223 but just wondering if whole barrel thing has been sorted eg there’s none sitting in the gun dealerships that are gunna need to be sent back? I’d assume all the dealers would have done this already?

I already have a .223 Ruger American but wouldn’t mind having something a bit nicer and better quality

Just my opinion here...
Why? You might be stepping up a tiny bit of quality (no where near a tikka though :sarcasm: see other thread lol)...but i'm sure your ruger shoots 223's as good as a LA will...so is this just a heart, I want thing ? if so, do it - you live once and should enjoy life - screw it and do it...if its a head thought that it will shoot better, handle better, perform better - it may not...
What about other calibres ? Other types of rifles ?
Tikka .260 (Z5 5x25/52)
Steyr Pro Varmint .223 - VX 3
CZ455 .22 & Norinco .22 (vtex 4-12, bush 3-9)
ATA 686 U/O 12g & Baikal S/S 12g.
Adler a110 reddot
Sauer 30-06 - VX 3
Howa 300 win mag. SHV 5-20/56

Hi. Jon.
I’d just ask your dealer if it has or hasn’t been rebarreled. They nearly all should’ve been by now.
I think I read somewhere that the rebarreled rifles had an additional laser etching on the to identify them but if I’m wrong here is the affected serial numbers.

https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recall ... 43-calibre

If it were me though I’d snap up a bargain and look at the second hand market.
A lot of blokes got a bad taste in their mouth and decided to sell them after rebarreling as basically new rifles. Some with decent scopes and most with two mags as all rebarreled rifles came with a complimentary second mag.

Good choice of rifle though mate.
Pretty sure you’ll enjoy it.

Oh yeah....
All rebarreled rifles also came with a certificate to prove the work.
These should be offered with the rifle as well.

My rebarrelled 223 has a little triangle etched icon on the barrel.
It also shoots lights out and I'd buy one over my tx3 equivalent.

Geez these things are bloody hard to track down!

There was one at the local gun shop earlier this week I said I’d be back later in the week when my pta arrived and went in today and it had been put on layby by someone yesterday

I rang 5 more dealers in the nearest few towns and nope none in stock... Finally found 1 at hpgs... off tomorrow to pick it up

Have you had a chance to get it out yet Jon? Considering one of these myself as my next rifle.

Yeah mate, love it... it shoots better than I do lol

I adjusted to trigger to make it lighter and I couldn’t be happier, used osa game kings to sight it in I doubt reloads would shoot any tighter almost a ragged hole at 100m
