ROSSI circuit judge

Post by MeccaOz » 11 Feb 2014, 7:35 pm

G'day everyone,

Just a quick question, has anyone tried to register a Rossi circuit judge in WA?

I was lead to believe that rotating cylinder rifles were a No - No over here, is that right ?

Category D over here :(

FYI...

Category D firearms
Each firearm described in the Table is a category D firearm.

D1 a self loading centre fire rifle designed or adapted for military purposes or a firearm that substantially duplicates such a firearm in
design, function, or appearance.

D2 a self loading centre fire rifle that is not of sub-category D1

D3 a self loading shotgun with a magazine capacity more than 5 rounds

D6.1 a combination firearm made up of a shotgun and a rifle at least one of which would individually be of category D

D6.2 a rifle combination made up of rifles at least one of which would individually be of category D

Self loading centre fire = D2
Self loading shotgun with 6 rounds = D3
Both of the above = D6.1

Which leads us to...

Genuine need test for category D
To satisfy the genuine need test for category D the applicant must satisfy the Commissioner that the firearm is required for Commonwealth or State government purposes.

Thanks guy's

I was more interested in the law than anything, although I did like the look of of the .22Lr which had a .22 cylinder as well... Not sure about it since there slightly different projectiles... But it caught my eye...

Well stuff it. Best I become a pro Roo shooter and get a cat D *Huge Grin*

Not saying you're wrong about it being Cat D over there Chickenhawk, but strictly speaking is a revolver a 'self loading' rifle?

I wonder if there is some wiggle room to get it on a hand gun license/permit instead?

I think you'll find 'self-loading' and 'semi-automatic' are interchangeable terms in our firearms legislation.

I get what you're saying though. Technically and mechanically it's not really a 'self-loading' rifle by definition.

But it's still semi-automatic and still above the ammo capacity being 6 shot.

Points for thinking outside the box though kritch :D

Yeah WA has always been like that, I think there scared we will succeed or something ... That was what I was told long ago by a guy in politics anyways, and I think the mentality of the police here is just say no to everything, except what they want.

Wa license D3 category says semi auto shotgun is MORE THAN 5 shots. The browning auto five is five shots. Does that mean a cat A license?

The catch 22 of it as I understand it is you need to have the work/contracts to justify getting the cat D license.

You can't get the license first because you're "getting into" contract shooting.

I think you need to get some work as is with your bolt-actions, then take that back to them as needing to upgrade your work equipment.

(Haven't got mine, that just the situation as I've been told it)

WA guys is there a reason for the way WA is regards guns, I mean politicially or culture wise, or was it just a bad run of politicians around the 96 changes? You guys have those open spaces, low population density, doesn't make sense to me. Actually what was WA like before 1996, same as the rest of us?
