Yeah,I usually run a gun in a bit. And I nearly always find them to improve after around 100 or so rounds

i reckon the 200 grain hornady spire points at 2700 fps would be a good general load decent speed trajectory and 35 cal "splat" factor ! mind you , it's real close to what can be done with a 8x57 . i really like the idea of a companion rifle to my 6.5x55 ;) actually, there's a win featherweight for sale online in 9.3x62 :D

Ok,just ran in/sighted in my 358.
Fired 20 rounds loaded 1gn over minimum with a good clean every 5 rounds. Didn't bother photographing the group's,they were s**t,and half of them were shot with one of the QD rings loose.
Then I fired 5x 46gn loads. Point of impact was slightly higher, but a nice group was had except the flyer. No pressure signs.
Then I fired a single 47gn load. Hit heaps high of point of aim, still no pressure signs.
I went for broke and fired a single round loaded at max. Hit higher again, and was a little difficult to extract. But still no pressure signs on the primer.
So far,so good. I think I'll load a few at 47gn and 47.5gn and see how they go.

Rifle is a 1982 winchester model 70 featherweight with a sprinter 358 light weight barrel with open sights and leupold 1.5 to 5x20 vx3 scope in warne QD rings. Targets are only 60m for now.

46gn loads look like the one mate. Nice one. Be interesting to see the 47 and 47.5 loads.

I'm definitely going to try some groups at 47 and 47.5gn. I only made one of each just to see what pressure signs there are

What scope are you running?

That's a leupold vx3 1.5-5x20 in QD rings on top,but if I'm honest I don't like it...

was my favourite scope for big game guns incidentally with warne QD mounts.

Nice.
I’m running a VX3i 2.5-8x36 on my 9.3...and 308 for that matter.
If your chasing a sniff more magnification it’s not a bad choice and still compact enough for the Featherweight I’d imagine. I do like the Warne QD’s too. I opted for open sights on both the 308 and the 9.3 so if the worst were to happen at least you’ve still got a tool less, viable shooting option available.
