For some reason he used 2 different reamers, I think because his 358 reamer is worn or something, and he didn't check it properly.

I have been following this topic with great interest and that is dissapointing.I have a love affair with the 338 federal but could be influenced by the results of 358 you will hopefully post. There is a rumour that Henry long rifle lever guns are going to or are chambered in 338 Fed

i think browning still make the BLR in 358 stateside . this is one caliber i think may undergo a resurgance.even if it's a handloaders cartridge in this country . i've had the idea for a build in this caliber for a while. nathan foster's website has a lot of good information, and on a lot of yank/alaska based forums lots of people that own them swear by them. i thought a short action bolt gun ( push feed model 70 for me ) in 358 would be a good alternative to a 45-70 lever. 35 cal has significant energy transfer over 30 cal as well apparently ;)

A Browning lever gun in 358 Win would be a very nice unit to own.Going in to research mode.I have genuine reason as I have no lever gun at the moment and it would be capable on Buffalo in the territory. They allowed me to use the 7mm Rem Mag before and 225 FMJ Woodleighs in 358 Win would be capable

Cool choice! Medium bores are underrated I reckon.
Will you be sticking with the 200gr option? (I use the Lee .358 200 FP cast in 38Spl and 357Mag) in pure lead they’re very effective....and quiet.
What was the thinking behind going .358?

Very aesthetically pleasing bit of kit mate. No doubt you would be happy. Will be interested to see the results on paper when you try her out.

I hope it does shoot well. Preliminary results shooting in the pouring rain first thing this morning weren't great, but it was 5 shots in a rush using open sights, and pissing with rain....

I have one of those on my 30/06 M70. The front ring is just 5mm from the very end of the tube, so you can't get a lens cover on but I made a 2 part leather plug which goes inside the scope tube. The pic of the front of your scope is not very clear so I can't tell what is happening there.
Good luck with your cannon mate

sorry pete , i missed that post . open sights, a new barrel and unproven loads don't mean much at this stage of the game . my 222 has changed it's load preference and accuracy increased significantly once i put about 150 rounds through it . i took it easy and cleaned , shot, cleaned , shot during initial bedding in process. i know some people think that it's a load of crap, but if the fella who makes the barrels tells me this is the way to do things i'm inclined to listen as he knows more than i do

i reckon the 200 grain hornady spire points at 2700 fps would be a good general load decent speed trajectory and 35 cal "splat" factor ! mind you , it's real close to what can be done with a 8x57 . i really like the idea of a companion rifle to my 6.5x55 ;) actually, there's a win featherweight for sale online in 9.3x62 :D
