Stock for Howa 1500

Post by andym79 » 10 Jul 2019, 5:49 pm

Hi guys I have been looking for a stock for my Howa 1500.

I can find plenty for short actions in both sporter and varmint.

And some for long action in sporter but as good as nothing for a LA varmint.

If anyone knows of any after market sturdy stocks that fit a Howe LA with a varmint barrel please let me know who makes them.

I can't find any heavy barrel ones on his site. I will have to give him a call!

I think Shooters Haven sell Boyds, might be worth giving them a call and see what they might be able to do.

I used to buy them from Boyds Directly not sure if the limit has been lifted or not, might be worth sending them a message too and see if you can get them directly from them again.

I put my Howa Varmint SA in an MDT chassis. There's ample room for the barrel. They also do a LA version.

I suspect that's not what you're after, but thought I'd throw it out there, just in case...

I've got a sporter profile stock on my Varmint Howa action, I just opened up the barrel channel to suit the HB, easy as a socket the size you need and some sandpaper wrapped around it and about 10mins work, then I just seal em back up with some clear coat of some sort (I use a wipe on Polyurethane) simple and effective,

I have mine in an MDT ESS. If you aren't into chassis then the Bell and Carlson stock options look great for the money

The Barn has a Boyds LA Howa varmint stock. For a bull barrel just sand out the channel.
