Dragoon Mosin Nagant

Hey all,

Just wondering what people's thoughts are regarding Mosin prices.

I'm new to all this so I don't have a great point of reference. I've seen Claremont in WA has war years rifles for $450, not including postage and transfer (I'm in Vic).

Also found a hex receiver, ex-dragoon for $750 online with postage included.

Only seen a few at gun shows and they have all seemed to be $800 plus.

Throw me your thoughts.

I got a mosin from Claremont. was in good nick , shoots well. If you want a good example go for Claremonts. If you want bragging rights , then get the other one.
Hex( really octagonal) recievers are slightly rarer but don't shoot any better.

Thanks for the reply. Are you outside WA? Do you happen to remember how much you paid for the postage? I might give Claremont a call and have a chat.

It was $70 a few years ago. He mentioned there has been changes to firearms transport laws. No idea what it is now. Rang them up, purchased rifle over phone, arrived about a week later, I'm in Vic.

G'day Nomis,
I paid $100 post & handling, as they had to come via courier then, but now Aus Post is on the list of approved carriers that should have changed. Drop Claremont a line and ask. The Dragoon, if it is a genuine Dragoon, may be worth the money as a collectible but as Supaduke said they don't shoot any better. For that same money Claremont will sell you a Finnish M39 Mosin which really will shoot better! Cheers.

I paid $800-ish for my M91/30 (2015) and M39 (start of this year).

Thanks for everyone's replies. Claremont quoted me $180 for postage which is way more than I was expecting.

Think I'll wait for the gun show in Bendigo in a few weeks and see what I can see.

Yeah, I remember them having issues in WA with postage.
I also have a Finnish M39 and it poo's on the 91/30 from a great height.
Mosin Nagant has historical value and are cool. But if you only want a few Milsurps I would take the M39 any day.
