bit of a grey area , i think so long as it's transfered by a firearms dealer it's all good :unknown: two people talking on a forum about a possible sale couldn't be bad :unknown: then again, ya don't want to fall foul of the law. especially if it's a federal offence . i've already got three model 70's , and ya teasing me with this one

Correct. You are advertising in every state and territory over the www.

nah i wouldnt approach it from that angle, else you could make the argument that they should be following the laws in regard to advertising firearms for sale in all nations on earth seeing as the domain is a .com not .com.au and the www reaches the entire globe... there are countries where owning/selling a firearm is completely illegal, so asserting that the person would need to follow any other law than the law pertinent to their place of residence whereby their end of the transaction would take place is just arbitrary.

You cant apply laws from one country onto amother. To try that would be idiotic. But since there is a national firearms agreement it can be applied within the country and different state authoruties work with each other. Thats why advertisi g of firearms were only permitted in magazines for a long time.

Why do you think they dont have a section for it? Too messy. Probably still a few restrictions. I must admitt im not certain tho.

merely addressing the fact that the point was asserted that you cant advertise xyz cos of state laws etc... its a .com domain, so its global so logic would dictate that given it can be accessed across all jurisdictions then laws should apply across the board or not at all.. likewise if a state in australia has not got a requirement to quote particulars, and the advertiser is in said state, then it would be logical that they would either have to comply with literally all states or only their own. and if its only their own then they shant need to do anything... etc.

I’ve seen other other firearm forums that do have FOR sale sections in Oz - but they have a caveat - sighting applicable laws on the thread / section itself ie you can’t open the section without reading the caveat,
I have heaps of bits and pieces I’d advertise if there was a garage sale section or similar for sale area...
Tikka .260 (Z5 5x25/52)
Steyr Pro Varmint .223 - VX 3
CZ455 .22 & Norinco .22 (vtex 4-12, bush 3-9)
ATA 686 U/O 12g & Baikal S/S 12g.
Adler a110 reddot
Sauer 30-06 - VX 3
Howa 300 win mag. SHV 5-20/56
Marlin SBL 45/70

Well, i will correvt myself. I know there were a lot of restriction in vic. But my own link made it clear.

"Placing advertisements
Firearms can be advertised for sale anywhere, including online, provided that the advertisement details the serial number of the firearm for sale and the dealer's details or the owner's licence number as required."

Seems to have changed. All this interedt mi gght help bigpete sell the m70. Lol
