Just for fun...

If for some reason you had to lose every rifle in your collection save one... which one would you keep any why?

NOTE: This is not political, its just for fun. I'm not suggesting this will happen, nor why it would. That is all irrelevant here. I'm just wanting to see what people like and why:)

I'm a bit torn on this one, as is the idea. I think i'd keep my CZ 527 FS in .223. Its versitile (for what i have access to) light, and downright sexy;) The set trigger is nice too.

Tikka CTR 308. Huge breadth for reloading. Boringly accurate. Excellent trigger. Heavy enough to mitigate heat (without being a boat anchor). 10-shot detachable mag that's never failed to feed once. Threaded muzzle for accesories. Correct height integral cheek riser for scope use. Corect LOP for my body. Weather resistent, but still light stiff stock.

You know what though - it was a rather trivial and thus boring rifle to develop.

Blaser BD14 Bock drilling in 3” 20g , 7x65R , and .22 Hornet.
It does everything from quail to Sambar, and only weighs 3.2kg and very easy to carry.

A nasty shiver just went up spine from thinking about it! May as well ask which limb you’d keep if you could only have one!
There's still a few of Wile. E Coyote's ideas that I haven't tried yet.

I'd have to keep the WFA-1 I think. Just feels like it's gonna get banned eventually so I'm making the most of it now.
The lap mag would be hard to give up too.

Probably my little 308 Ruger scout. while it's very agricultural, does nothing exceptionally well, it just works and proven to be life proof.

And I don't stress about dings, treated rough and keeps coming back for more. And 308 covers pretty well everything that draws breath

I still laugh about a trip up the Cape when one of the blokes joked about it being cute lol

And on that particular trip the 'cute' rig despatched more oinkers stalking, out of the vehicles and from chopper than the rest of them combined

Mate I’d say my Sako 6.5 ManBun. It is the most accurate rifle I have, and the closest thing I have to a .243 which I believe is the best all round bit of kit. Just my opinion.

Probably my Lithgow 223, accurate and versatile for most small to medium game. It would be hard to imagine life without a simple bolt action 22 though.

A good question ........mine would probably relate to calibre moreso than make or model..
If ONLY shooting game the size of fallow / goat and smaller then the 243 Win (firing 55-105 gr projectiles) would be my pick- and probably in a Howa M1500 with a McMillan stock .

If shooting game from fallow/ goats and bigger - then the 270 Winchester is my bag....and my Sako Finnlight firing 130 or 150 gr projectiles.

My beautiful BSA .222 that I bought it in 1975 by mail order from Mick Smiths gun shop in George St Sydney just after I left school when I was jackerooing near Cunnamulla Qld. I love it. Super accurate, barrel is still perfect and a great cartridge to reload

Just thinking about it makes me shudder at how many hours i have put into adjusting and tuning the rifles I have to get them feeling just right in the hand.
If I had to choose, I would be keeping the AIA M10 in .308 that i have.
In my opinion its a true hunters and outdoorsman's rifle, just has that solid and well balanced feel to it when its shouldered.
If its big and fast, I wanna know all about it
Weatherby MkV - .220 Swift
Remington Sendero - .300 RUM
AIA M10B2 - .308 Win
Musgrave - .308 Win
Weatherby Vanguard - .223 Rem
Remington 788 - .222 Rem
Stirling 14 - .22 LR

Only keep one...

.
.
I dont think this game is for me...

I cant even commit to it in a hypothetical... :unknown:

I cant leave the burbs without at least a 22lr, a 12g, & a 20 or 22 cal centrefire all laying on the back seat...

And i cant go to a range without having one or two, too many rifles to shoot that day... :?
