Remington 7600 Patrol sighting problems

Post by MJ999 » 04 Nov 2019, 2:17 pm

Hi guys, I just picked up a new second hand remington 7600 patrol and i'm having trouble zeroing the factory wilson combat sights. The red dot I put on it was on paper first shot and zeroed no worries but the irons are shooting about 300mm high and out of adjustment. Has anyone ever had this problem? It seems the front sight is too short but i wouldn't expect that remington would get that wrong...

If the front sight appears too short could a previous owner have gone to town on it with a nice sharp file?

They're a head front sight so that should be very obvious

Pretty sure I’m adjusting it the right way (lower the rear sight to lower to point of impact). As for the front sight being filed, it doesn’t appear to be... looks original.

Yep that's right.
We've all stuffed up though....well I have,hence why I asked lol.
It does seem odd. What ammo are you using ? Often lighter pills will impact higher....

300mm high at what distance?
Maybe somebody zeroed it for long-range?
They have a dovetailed sight insert on a ramp?
Order a taller sight insert from Brownells.

I’ve had a couple of them and honesty I could never get it right, stick with your red dot, you will use less ammo

When I bought my 7600 I didnt even attempt to use the pos sights. Dropped an illuminated low power on it and its good enough for me.
